Which costs more money in the long run, dabs or weed?

  1. I was thinking of getting a vape pen, and if i did it would be for concentrate.  But I was wondering - from your experience, which is cheaper in the long run?  I know wax costs considerably more than weed, but it gets you way more stoned so you use less.  I'm a college student who needs to save money, so I'm tryin to find the most efficient way price wise to light up  :smoke:  thanks!

also another quick question: do dab pens actually "vaporize" the concentrate?? Like does it turn into water vapor? my friend says it just burns it and doesn't actually "vaporize"

  2. I would think if you have a low tolerance dabs would be the way to go, money wise.

  3. Thats what I was thinking.. and yes I do. I've only dabbed twice and WOW i loved it  :metal:
    How I felt:
      :hippie:

  4. Smoking oil would only be cheaper if you were making it out of trim and doing the whole process yourself. Buying oil from a dealer will run you considerably more $$ in the long run.

  5. ^ that that

  6. dang
It's kinda hard to make my own dabs living in a college dorm haha.
maybe I'll have to up my job hours..

  7. How many smallish dabs can you get out of a gram?

  8. Honestly? A dab that weighs a point or 2 points on a scale is huuuge. So easily 20 to 30 dabs if theyre .05 to .03 grams each. Yehhhh enjoy oil my friend

  9. shiiiit dude im stoked now.  i shall enter the world of dabzzzz  :yay:

Ima get the cloud vape pen, seemed like a good deal and my friend had one and said it rips well. thoughts?

  10. Dabs would be more money.

You build a wicked tolerance from concentrates which is pretty much why I try to not smoke them everyday anymore.

I just stick to flowers an hashish.

A quarter of wax lasts me a week and a half.

A quarter of weed lasts me 3 days.

    Wax

  12. Lol and why can't you do a lil of both :)

  13. Im confused. Is that 7g of wax vs 7g of buds because the price difference would be enough to buy you some more weed.

I enjoy both but to really get the most out of dabs, use a red hot nail and make your dabs fat. Dont cheat yourself, treat yourself!

  14. Even with the extra $$ the weed would go too quick. I prefer to vape my bud too but still go through more of it than I would wax.

With wax, it just lasts me longer , most likely because I don't need to smoke as much . 2 or three dabs has me good for a much longer period of time than 2 or three bowls :D

  15. This. And that's going through it fucking fast.

Earlier in the year I first got access to oil (40-60/g), I faced the same choice (vs 50/8th bud), and decided to add oil to my daily routine. It's 100% saved me money, plus I enjoy smoking my vape pen more than having to pack a bowl or hit a bong all the time, it makes doing things (like going to school), SO MUCH EASIER and you won't waste so much time grinding weed, packing bowls, etc...

Plus you can always buy a bag a weed to have something to smoke, but you'll always be "lifted" from the oil.

  16. Experience has taught me weed but probably for a different reason than you're thinking.

With weed, I can change up strains and methods to maintain pretty steady tolerance and enjoy bud consistently. With wax, I was constantly upping the amount to get the same high as the night before and was eventually dropping .2-.4 g dabs at a time.

In the long run, a bag of bud will have you better off but mixing the two up now and then is the best way to go, both money and enjoyability wise.

Dude I think you're dead on.  I'm all for convience, a longer high, and i only blaze it like once during weekdays if even, and then on the weekends.  I've got schoolwork to do so I dont blaze all the time.  Because of this, I don't think I'll build up as much of a tolerance as other people are saying.
and btw (I know this is a newbie question) is oil the same as hash oil? or is that like dabs/wax?  you can vape that or is it too liquidy to stay in the vape pen?

  18. I think the high from oil is more conducive to being productive as well, so that's another benefit.

Generally yes.  The most common kind of hash oil you'll find around is Butane Honey Oil (BHO), but honey/hash oil can also be extracted with other solvents, like CO2 or ethanol.  The terms used to identify a specific batch of oil (say, oil vs wax vs budder vs crumble vs shatter vs honeycomb) is really just describing the consistency of that specific oil, and doesn't necessarily indicate how the oil was extracted.  Specific solvents do tend to make specific consistencies of oil, though the strain of bud used, as well as the humidity where it's run and the process used to extract and purge the oil also has an effect on the consistency and end product.

After all that I'll finish by saying that depending on exactly what brand and what model of pen you buy will dictate what type of oil works best.  From my experience:
Micro G-type (small dabber): wax-y, soft and sticky, not too crumbly
G-Pen style (wick atomizer, access to top): wax-y, more liquid-y alright, especially at the beginning of the tank to get it loaded (if you can get CO2 oil you can just load the the whole cartridge since that's generally more viscous)
Ego-T style (wick atomizer, no access to coil): you must use liquid-y oil (such as a CO2 syringe) to load
Atmos Raw: wax-y or crumbly, alternating works best to keep the tank a good consistency overall

  19. I find it to last about the same. A 1/8th of dank and qwiso made from a 1/8th both last about the same. The oil gets your tolerance way up and you might smoke too much of it too fast.
