Strain for Epilepsy

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by randyman, Sep 15, 2013.

  1. Hey guys/gals, I'm looking for a good strain of marijuana to grow since my doctor won't give me my card for it.  I've had epilepsy since I hit puberty (17 years ago) I was diagnosed with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy which of course changes as you age.  I have grand mals in my sleep and occasionally awake, very many petite mals during the day.  I also have bad shakes in my legs.  The last 7 months or so has been better with new medication but the side effects are bad and they don't stop all the seizures.  I found a long time ago marijuana helps a lot.  When I smoke my legs stop moving, I don't blackout or stare off, plus some side effects of the meds are gone like bad headaches, mad temper, depression and unable to sleep.  Problem is I'm tired of getting it off the street from somebody who doesn't know a thing about what they are selling so I'm looking to grow.  I can't continue to be so high that I don't want to move, I need to move on with my day.  I don't exactly have the highest tolerance either, like 2-3 hits off a pipe and I'm gone.  I'm looking to see if anybody knows a good strain to help the seizures, stop the headaches and blackout/stare off seizures while letting me go on with my day.  After lots of googling mostly what I've found is stories for other afflictions and not epilepsy.  Please keep in mind that I have no experience growing so I need something quite forgiving as well as something that will grow in say a window.

  2. you might be asking a little too much out of the mj plant if you wanna grow it on a widow seal. that will only work for the seedling stage. if you live in a medical state, get your license, and get the right equipment. research

  3. i reccomend to you grape ape or la confidential. in reality and indica strain is what is gonna help you the most in your case. i smoke for medical and recreational use i have a back injury as a result of a car accident, and when i get back pains i normally smoke an indica strain and that helps alot

Great site for info on CBD and CBD rich strains. These would probably be the most beneficial for your condition. If you like edibles, CBD Bhang Bars and CBD Cheeba Chews are out and about (just gotta look for 'em).

American weed and several other shows talk extensively about newer high CBD strains. Dr. Sanjay Gupta just did a CNN documentary "weed". If I were you would get a referral to another specialist as yours seems to be working out of his 1930's text books.Originally bred in Israel with 15% CBD and less than 1%THC.

30% THC and 30% CBD. (super super superrrr potent)

    take 1 small hit.

Its the combination of THC and CBD that is miraculous. Removing the THC is like removing vitamin C from your multivitamin.

I dont understand why people would want to smoke/eat weed with no THC.

    THC is MAGICAL

    peace and pot

CBD crew (a group that includes mr.nice/howard marks) are breeding strains with a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC, I will be purchasing one of their strains soon, I also have epilepsy/seizures and I find smoking weed helps a lot , The medication the doctor gives me called Keppra makes me tired, aggressive etc. Im slowly reducing my Keppra and relying more and more on the smoke, im now on only 250mg a day of keppra and about 1g of weed.

Ill let you know how I get on with one of the CBD crew strains, not sure which one im gonna get yet.

  10.
You can search on google for "charlottes web seeds" and im sure you will find reputable sellers with this strain in stock, then once its grown I assume you can smoke it (maybe in a vaporiser) or make oil using alcohol , you could also bake a high CBD strain in cookies etc.

if you cant find that exact strain maybe try some other high CBD strains.  I think charlottes web is fine if you don't want to get stoned, so its good for kids as it has no THC (less than 1%) , but if you like a smoke aswell then a 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD would be much better.

  11. Hey dude,  sorry to hear about the seizures. I think it sucks that something that works is illegal. If it were legal, you wouldn't have to worry about all the unknown  differences  in varieties on the street. I've also heard a  lot about the Charlotte's Web strain and how its been helping with epilepsy. I'd start with that. Maybe get a bunch of seeds and learn to grow through trial and error if its not forgiving.

If not, definitely look for something close to a 1:1 thc:cbd ratio. I think that's key with high CBD ratio strains.
I'm also interested in finding these types of strains. Does anyone know who breeds a good and legit version of Charlotte's web?
