When did you become an adult?

  1. When I got out of prison I was an adult; whilst inside I was nothing but an animal

  2. I believe adult hood is gained when you realize and act on the fact that you are ultimately responsible for your decisions, your life, and your future.

  3. Every time something happens in my life where I understand things much more, I always think wow my knowledge has grown, I am getting older and smarter, I am like an adult. Then later on something else happens and I realize that when I thought I had become a grown adult before, I was actually wrong and my knowledge is STILL just growing.

  4. I just cried for about 7 minutes after looking through philosophy threads. Life. Shit.

To answer the question... I'm still unsure of my own definition of an adult. But I definitely matured A LOT when I was 17. Went through some shit and came out the other end a completely different person. But I'm still not independent. I don't know

  6. I don't consider myself to be an adult. If there's one thing I've learnt about the "adult world," it's that nobody really has it all figured out and very few even have any idea what's going on. We all just talk with bigger words and feel sophisticated and important by concerning ourselves with politics and "high-minded thinking" but we're all just children who got taller.

Anyway, if I had to answer, it would be at 18 when my dad kicked me out for leaving the church and I was kind of forced into the adult world of paying rent, bills and for my own food lol.

  7. I guess the only thing that makes me feel like an adult" if that's even a real thing and not an imaginative role we take on)
Is more self control - but that's usually boring af

  8. Age and maturity don't coincide, blah blah blah, yadda yadda hey.

  9. Never... and you can't make me!

I became an adult when I put jars full of noodles on my kitchen counter and spent my Christmas money on new kitchen towels, oven mitts, baking sheets, and decorative fucking coasters  :hide:

  11. I felt like I was an adult when I was 13 because I learned how to masturbate.

I felt like I was an adult when I was 16 because I got my drivers license and creampied a girl.

Then I turned 19 and felt like it was an adult because that's when Canadians are considered adults. Gamble, buy booze, cigarettes and porn.

21 moved out of my parents house to a different province away from all my friends and family. Adult life kicked in and I had to figure out shit I didn't know like taxes, rent payments, bills, health stuff etc. cook my own food, go grocery shopping list goes on

I'm 24 now and look back to when I was 21 when I thought I was an adult, I'm even more of an adult now trying to settle down in life and start a career, buy my first house and have a family.

I'm sure when I'm 30, I'll look back to when I was 24 and be like lol what a noob. Same goes for when I'm 75 looking back to when I was 30.

  12. I'm 19 with a full time job and that but I still consider myself child minded while being an adult physically

  13. The day I was making pancakes and thought, should I put chocolate chips in these?  When I realized I was the only one to answer to, I knew I was an adult.

When I decided to be responsible for children.

No more living only for my own needs. Most of my life now is dedicated to their well being.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. You have to be ready to sacrifice everything to merge with a family. You have days where you feel underappreciated and days where you feel like a king. Ultimately, you have to believe you're doing the right thing trading the lone wolf life for the mini-van full of sheep.

I would say around 25. I was living on my own and working the oil patch at 19 sure, I felt like an adult at the time but looking back I really wasnt. I'm 28 now and it was probably 2 or 3 years ago that I really started to take my future seriously, I stopped career hopping and finally stuck with one and have pursued it successfully ever since. Also over the past few years I feel like my interests have changed alot and I dont have that youthfull zest for high adrenaline activities, I've sort of slowed down a bit I sit back and analyze alot more.

I've also learned to choose my words wisely and am able to be diplomatic, which I think is the defining feature of reaching adulthood.

  18. I have all the responsibilities and age of an adult but sure don't feel like one.

Still feel like I'm drifting aimlessly.  I dunno.  W/e.

  19. I thought I was a mature man at 16 , now at 23 I realise I wasnt but i think I am now....maybe at 40 ill look back on today and have the same opinion
