Bryan Davis, a student at the University of Texas, was walking between classes when he was attacked with a water balloon. But that water balloon actually contained bleach. Davis believed he was targeted for being African-American. In October, Austin police launched an investigation due to similar attacks on minorities. RT's Erin Ade speaks with Mychal Denzel Smith, a contributor at The Nation, about the implications of these attacks.

  2. I'll get behind this when they admit the killing of the Australian kid was racist.

  3. 2 wrongs don't make a right, buddy

  4. Think he meant more like... He'll believe/admit this might be race related once they do. Not that he's loading up balloons waiting for the other case to be deemed racial.

  5. least they arent draggin people behind trucks anymore..

  6. Some people are fucked in the head....

  7.
Because it's the degree of a hate crime that matters.

I remember seeing an HBO movie about something like this happening to a little girl during brown vs board of edu. days. Some people jumped her and put permanent white paint on her face and it didn't come off for a few day so she kinda just dealt. That being said, just because she wasn't severely damaged or hurt, doesn't mean it should be accepted.

In this day and age, some bleach bombing is really a hate crime fueled attempt at whitewashing. Something to be said about racial crimes in different societies and in different eras.

  8.
sorry that was sarcasm about how fucked up texas racists are

  9.
My mistake lol. Sorry I have had conversations where people think racism really isn't a thing anymore so it was a reflex.
    :bongin:

  10. Because some of the people who live there have preconceived opinions of others based on stereotypes?

  11. Y

Yes and I am a very narrow minded asshole. All I have ever seen in the news and in real life is bad things about Texas. The people and the government. I visted a rodeo near Arlington and when the cowboys found out I was from Los Angeles, they reamed me a new asshole. Not very hospitable at all.
