32w ballast for lower wattage light?

  1. Hey,
Hopefully it's right place to ask such question.. I found a ballast at my work, which is 1x32w and originally meant for circline fluorescent light. So what I would like to know is if I replace the original socket with some CFL socket, can I use for example 26w or 28w CFL bulb with this ballast, because I don't think there are 32w CFL bulbs for sale?

  2. I would advise against such acts of frugality ...32w is too small for anything, stick to 23w CFL  as they are smaller you can cram more into a given space, read up lumen

  3. So is it actually a ballast?  Or simply a 120V fixture with standard lamp socket?
