I have a 4x4 grow tent growing 4 bubba kush plants. I need to get a fan and filter setup and looking for a better light setup for my upcoming flowering. Can't spend the money on the best of the best but would like some help finding the correct stuff to give me a quality grow. Looking at a 400w light setup and a small inline fan with carbon filter. Just need six inch ducting, a fan, which you can get for a reasonable price, and a carbon filter. You lookin at about 350 for all stated above. go to hidhut.com and search for 400w hps kit under $200 and the first one to pop up is a bulb ballast and reflector for 169 im sure if you wanted an enclosed hood you could find one of those as well for around the same price.
the Apollo 400w kits on amazon are $140-$200 depending on the hood you get - they include both MH and HPS bulbs, all of the wiring you need, the dimmable ballast (200w, 300w and 400w settings) and even a timer and a set of rope ratchets the seller that usually has them is called low_baller or something similar - excellent service and very good prices there are 6" filter fan combo kits on amazon as well - I got mine for $160 with everything and it does an amazing job even at 1/3 speed there are links to the exact items I'm talking about on the first post in my Biodiesel grow journal in my signature get some pictures up here when you get it figured out - looking forward to seeing what you put together
You should at least get a 600watt setup for a 4x4. I run 1000's in my 4x4's. Ideally you want 50watts per square foot. Going smaller will only give you less yield and after harvest you'll be kicking yourself for not going bigger.
I agree with the comments above I would go with an Apollo 600w digital because even if heat or wattage is an issue you can dial it back to 300 for 450. I would do 8 plants in a 4x4 too unless you're giving a real long veg. If you go Apollo check out Amazon and you can find some really great priced setups
iPower 600w HPS ballast, bulb, and basic wing reflector is $129 on eBay!! A few bucks more for a cool tube, which you'll probably want in a tent. And a few more bones they will throw in a MH bulb, too. You can't beat this deal with a stick. You should have a 6" fan in a 4x4 tent, BTW.
