One of my plants hermied about four weeks into flowering, I separated it from the grow and continued flowering it in another room under cfls. I originally plucked five or six pollen sacks off and bud growth seemed to continue as normal until the last week or so when the pollen sacks began to grow again. At this point the main cola was done but the lower buds were not and basically stopped growing with the exception of the pollen sacks. I gave up waiting and cut the buds, dried them, but they are covered with the pollen sacks... I don't plan on smoking this crap so I was wondering if it would be worth trying to make into hash or cannabutter and what's the best way to filter out the pollen?

    I will post pics shortly.

  2. Why do you want to filter out the pollen? It has THC in it too!

Flavonoid glycosides and cannabinoids from the pollen of Cannabis sativa L.
    (abst – 2005)  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15688956?ordinalpos=50&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum

    The identified cannabinoids were delta9-tetrahydrocannabiorcol, cannabidivarin, cannabicitran, delta9-tetrahydrocannabivarin, cannabicyclol, cannabidiol, cannabichromene, delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabigerol, cannabinol, dihydrocannabinol, cannabielsoin, 6a, 7, 10a-trihydroxytetrahydrocannabinol, 9, 10-epoxycannabitriol, 10-O-ethylcannabitriol, and 7, 8-dehydro-10-O-ethylcannabitriol.

The only thing wrong about hermie buds is you have to get the dang seeds out!   But that can be easily done by letting the buds get bone dry and then rubbing the pot through that big wire mesh strainer from your kitchen! All the seeds and stems stay in the strainer, while nicely flaked pot falls through to a bowl or plate! Then you jar it up, and add a tiny bit of water to rehydrate it!

I would remove the seeds before making hash or oil- the oils from the seeds will NOT improve your end product! Solvents will remove the oil from the seeds, too.  (Think of the smell of vegetable oil on a burner!)

  3. As always, listen to Granny ^ Best advice you'll get here. Period.

Also, I say don't worry about hermies. I'm smoking on some of my recently harvested hermies right now and the bud is damn good still. The only problem is that you'll have to filter out all of the seeds, but you'll have more than enough for a while of growing lol so save them too if you want. Just let them grow don't worry about filtering anything. Don't stress your plant out too much. Just let herm grow.
