I just started making small batches for personal use and to share with friends. I noticed that the bho that I made went from crystal clear amber goo to a cloudy crumbly ball in a 2-3 week period. I figured it was how I was storing it, but I wanted to know if there is a shelf life to bho? Input from anyone with experience is appreciated!
I think the shelf life is a very long one, talking years. Whats happening to your oil is probably that it is "freezing". yes. Basically oil sometimes sets/solidifies forming small crystals of fat especially if its still in a cold place for a long time. Try warming the oil up a bit and shaking it slightly and it should be clear again.
Well I'm glad to know it has a long shelf life. I know cold isn't the problem since it hasn't been below 70 degrees in my apartment for a few weeks. Do you think exposure to the air or the oils from my fingers could be the cause?
I had a gram of dark brown BHO turn slightly green after like half a year. Ended up tossing it so no idea if it was still good or not. Only buy solventless hash these days.
Long but not too long. The longer you keep it stored the more potency it will lose. And what you experienced is buttering.
If anything, oil is a good way to preserve it. I find it keeps better than flowers. Just keep it in a cool dark and dry place
Jimmy, do you think it would be a better preservation method than vacuum sealing and keeping it in those same condition?
