Help Coughing Up Blood

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by Drewman, Jun 25, 2013.

  1. I am freaking out right now, and I have solely created this account to post this thread.  I am 23 years old and first started smoking weed when I was 15 years old.  At first it was a couple of times a month with friends and nothing serious.  It gradually increased and when I hit 19 it became an every day thing up until now.  I also dabbled with cigarettes for a little bit, but never became that big of a cig smoker.  At worse it was a pack every 3 or 4 days around age 20, which lasted for a couple of months before I quit.  I also smoked poppers on several occasions with friends, but that to was only a temporary faze.  As I got older age 21-23, smoking weed has helped me fall asleep as I would smoke an hour or two before bed, otherwise I would suffer from insomnia and lie in bed staring at my ceiling all night until I had to wake up the next morning.  I also smoke a lot during days I have no commitments and nothing beats smoking a joint then playing the guitar.  Joints have always been my preferred method of smoking, but I have smoked everything from pipes to bongs and blunts to vapes.  Over the years I have coughed up some nasty rainbows of colours but nothing like this.  Recently I have been coughing up blood and it is a really scary experience.  I have not smoked tobacco frequently for a long time (here and there while drinking overtime but no more then like a cigarette at a time and less then once a month), so I do not believe that is really a factor here.  I am really worried about this and am going to be seeing a doctor tomorrow and am hoping it is not serious.  I am also really worried now that I am most likely going to have to quit smoking weed, which has been a major part of my life up until now.  I am scared that this is going to change the person I have become (really relaxed) and that I now will have to find new hobbies.  My favorite hobby is playing guitar which I do every day, but even that is not as fun sober.  Going through the rest of my life sober is a really scary thought for me and I do not want to end up becoming a heavy drinker to compensate.  The world can be a shitty place and nothing helps deal with a hard day like coming home and smoking a joint.  I am not very good with dealing with stress and weed has always been very helpful with this.  I have gone on a couple tolerance breaks through the years and have often found myself becoming extremely depressed before going back to smoking again.  This is a really rough time in life for me and I hope I make it through this ok.  Has anyone ever gone through anything like this before?  I coughed up more blood today and took a picture of it and posted it below so people know what I am referring to.  It has been like this on and off for a couple of months now.  I never mentioned it to anyone because I was scared, but yesterday I finally told my friend who is also a heavy smoker and he freaked out and told me to see a doctor asap.  Please let me know your experience with discharge from smoking, as well it would really help if anyone has any tips for making it easier to stop smoking, this is my second day sober now and it is hell.

    Thank you!

  2. Sorry to break the news to you brother, but seems like your Bud isn't pure if that is what is causing you to cough blood. Either sprayed with pesticide or some nasty chemical. Could also be to your prior (laced) tobacco use. Perhaps a pre-existing or genetic respitatory condition... regardless of the cause, I would get it checked out by a pro doctor ASAP bro before it could possibly get worse, if its serious.
& because you stop smoking doesnt mean you have to stop getting High... you can vaporize, drink, or eat the sacred bud. Make edibles! :)

"Coughing up blood - a condition medically termed as hemoptysis - can be an indication of several diseases. When you cough up blood, it might tend to appear bubbly. This is because coughed up blood is more often than not mixed with mucus and air. Hemoptysis might be a sign that bronchitis is all set to devour your lungs. It could also be a symptom of tuberculosis. in addition to this, hemoptysis can also be a warning sign indicating the presence of a blood clot deep down in the lungs. Laryngitis also uses this condition as a symptom of its presence or to indicate its worsening rapidly. the presence of blood in the cough might also indicate cancer.
However, before you run away all panicked and worried, remember that you can also cough up blood if you happen to be coughing violently. So, first try to deal with the cough by using cough suppressants. Clear the throat by resorting to salt water gargles and by the intake of herbal tea mixed with honey or lavender. You might also want to try tea mixed with comfrey or slippery elm. Lavender, comfrey, and slippery elm are known to soothe the throat and clear it up as well. But, if the cough still prevails and the blood too keeps reminding you of its presence, please do fix an appointment with your family physician"
\nGod bless you brother, hope you feel better soon! Keep you in my prayers <3

First, get your ass to a doctor! The doctor will check your lungs and be able to tell you if it is lung cancer, TB, a bacterial infection, or just from coughing too much!

And then buy a vaporizer!  Vaporizing is MUCH easier on the lungs than smoking! Uses less, too, because the cannabis is NOT instantly destroyed by fire, but can keep giving out THC vapor for much longer!

  8. I would run to a doctor. You could literally be playing with your life here. If you do have a serious condition early detection is you BEST bet at beating it. the longer you wait the worse of an outcome it can have.

  9. Thanks a lot Rastafari for the salt water gargles tip it makes the throat feel a lot better.  I have been drinking a lot of Tetley green tea with ginseng.  I saw a doctor today and he is not sure what is going on.  He said it could be anything from coughing to hard which caused a vein in my throat to burst, to more severe causes such as tuberculosis or throat or lung cancer.  I am hoping it is not that serious.  He is not taking any chances though; I had a tuberculosis skin test done today (a needle inserted into my skin)  it doesn't seem to be reacting or turning red so I highly doubt its tb.  He also sent me to get a chest x-ray done, and I have to wait 3-4 days to get the results from that.  Finally I have to get a CT scan done next week to see if my throat is ok.  Overall this is a really scary process.  Does anyone have any tips to make it easier to not smoke pot?  Drinking a lot of tea seems to be a good alternative and I have been doing a lot of that lately.  As well has anyone gone through anything like this before?  Anyways thanks for listening everyone.

  10. Keep us posted man want to know you're all good

  11. Don't think about smoking. Keep yourself entertained.

  12. don't smoke anything anymore and get to a doctor.

  13. There was a time where I felt like this and I was getting very scared thinking I was going to die. My chest really hurt I was coughing and it felt almost like I was hit by a bad medical disease. I went to the doctors a lot, atleast once a month getting check ups and the doctor after a while said to me that the more you think about it then the more your mind will be on it to make you have these sort of things happen. Now if possible go get a test done. Stay strong okay? Don't get depressed or cry because if it is nothing then it's okay. Trust me I doubt it is nothing serious. Coughing blood happends... Sadly and these things do occour. My friend coughed blood then he took a break from pot now he is all good. I gotta quit smoking and start vaping it is a very good idea. Helps the lungs as well.

Wow what a useful comment for someone that said they're going to the doctor tomorrow... AND PEOPLE LIKED IT, LOL.

Anyway, Drewman, you can just eat some edibles in the mean time, I don't see why not. If you haven't really made edibles before, just make some firecrackers or something, lots of info on that in these forums. Getting high will make you feel much better and less worried about the whole situation, which is what you need. Once this all blows over, get a vape and stick to vaping, become a vape enthusiast or something. Here are your new best friends:

  15. I stopped reading right before that part came up.  It was just becoming a sob story.

Either way GO TO THE FUCKING DOCTOR

  16. You, my friend, might be suffering from retardation. You may very well be benefited from taking your own advice.

  17. Ah yes.  I definitely am retarded.  I should probably go pick up some more meds from my doc.

  18. Gonna be keeping an eye on this thread. Can't really give much advice, but I hope you're all good.

  19. Update us when you get the results i hope you're ok!

  20. He is probably fine.

It's probably just an irritated throat but obviously should take it easy from now on.

It's scary when you start coughing and can't stop and then start coughing up a lot of blood and old brown blood with phlegm.
