I always wanted to get half a sleeve, right now I only have two on my elbow and one on the inside of my bicep on my left arm.My question is..How how much has your tattoos effected your Job?I'd like to get half a sleeve but I dont want it to effect my future career,I plan on going to college this year and getting trade.I'd like to be a carpenter or electrician and do something along the lines of Technology and Research aswell as Acting.

  2. if you're serious about acting than you probably dont want to get more tattoos. look at 50 cent removing his to broaden his acting career

  3. Im thinking that some people would be intimidated by the tattoo in your line of work but in the end its all about personality and how you approach/talk to your customer!

  4. *Affected.

Visible tattoos can affect your career.
The effect of visual tattoos can be limiting.

  5. There's at least one guy with several facial tattoos where I work (and probably 2" ear lobes). Many guys have full sleaves and/or other visible tattoos. I work in a factory.

If you're going to work as a tradesman, I don't think you'll have TOO much to worry about. It's not hard to hide an arm tattoo for an interview; just wear long sleaves. If you have the tattoo stop a bit early (not going all the way to your wrist), you can even roll your sleaves up a bit without visible ink. And when you're on the job, a tradesman's appearence generally isn't expected to be super-clean and neat, or at least not on the same level as an office-worker. My point being that tattoos are probably more accepted in a workshop than an office.

All that said, I personally will tattoo my arms last. I want to get my legs, chest, sides, and back done before I touch my arms. At a young age, I don't want to get something so highly visible drilled into me just quite yet. Obviously it's your call, but I would recommend (especially to someone just entering college) to get the rest of your body inked before covering your arms. I want to wait for my "carreer" to be in good-standing and to have a strong resume before I put ink anywhere easily visible.

  6. I have full body tattoos, legs, arms and neck, and this was a serious problem in my country (Romania). Why? Because many people they judge me how i look : Killer, thief, scumbag, etc .... i don't give a shit what people says to me, i know what kind of man i am, and this is all that metter ! Some mentality are "down" !  We can't judge someone because he listen rap music or he wear large clothes or have a tattoo or piercing...We are not the same ! And to answer on your question: Yes, tattoos have a bad effect on your work. That's why i opened my own Tattoo Salon ;)

PS: sorry about my english :)

  7. The only actors that need a tat like that is a porn star

  8. Won't effect it at all u can cover a half sleeve with a shirt if u really care about finding a perfect job just don't get any tatts in places that can't get covered up just incase u find a job that u can't have any showing tatts. For me personally I've never been rejected a job cuz of my art but I'm sure in some place professional they might because I have a full sleeve and it goes onto my hand a bit and also have one on my neck 2 places that can't get covered but so far so good and now adays u never know tatts seem to be making a mad uprise and they ate becoming socially accepted umung the normies *normal ppl* and the preps

  9. Unfortunately even though tattoos are becoming mainstream and more acceptable many jobs are still banning them.

I once worked for a hospital and every so often the boss would catch me and tell me to cover mine, but I have a real hard time following rules that are not enforced for everyone equally. So, if I see some one else's not covered I won't because you can't just enforce a rule for some.

Why not get something on your chest or back?  Lots of hidden real estate there.

Half sleeves aren't too bad.  Those and even 3/4 sleeves are easily hidden in many work environments.  But it's still going to show any time you wear short sleeves, and you probably wear short sleeves a lot.

To answer the question more generally though, I believe that getting tattooed on your hands, forearms, neck, or face at a teenage/young age will have a deep impact on career options / life path.  I think it locks a person in the anti-establishment/anti-authoritative mindset that many have in youth.  Someone who doesn't get those tattoos might grow a bit older and decide they'd like to participate in "the establishment" for whatever reason (perhaps financial gain) and then can blend in and get the job and make the money and feed the family.  The person with the face tattoos has to continue being a mascot of radical anti-conservatism for the rest of their lives.

    Some people want that tho...

I suppose it's a whole different subject whether or not it's holistic for someone to define themselves in opposition to something else.

  11. Y'all are just judging people with face neck an hamdtatts like its a bad thing . Saying that because u got hand tatts ur gunna be broke fotever or some shit. Y'all ain't seen the guy on ancient aliens whos tatted upwith the mohawk that fool makes more money then probably most people on the GC what about chumlee from pawnstars? That MF drives a Rolls Royce phantom!

  12. I'm tatted on both hands, a full left sleeve, on my back, and on my neck. I'm in my last year of high school and still in with my rents so its not like I really need a job that bad but when I went in for an interview at where I work now, (public library), I got some weird looks and the people there told me not to expect a call back.

It's a little harder already and I can't imagine how it will be when I actually get into a career..

  13. Half sleeves on both arms. Got to wear long sleeves. Sucks because it gets hit ass hell around here for the summer n

  14. And you did no think of this before you got your ink. Way to think things through.

  15. I didn't really give a fuck at those moments.

    원숭이도 나무에서 떨어진다~

  16. Both my arms and shoulders and back are covered in one big tattoo.
Back when I started I was working as a mechanic engineer and had lots of money flowing, my friends were doing the bad type of dope and every Monday they would be broke and I would have a new piece of skin art.

    Ink was my drug.

Nobody says a fucking word to me about it. If they don't like it then they can fix their own fucking robots. I'm also big and scary looking but very educated and a perfectionist. I repair machinery that's high tech and charge $100 an hour when I feel like working.

My woman and I are in our 40's retired and own 2 houses. So if some fuck stick want to look down on us then fuck em!

I really wish I had this attitude when I was 16-20.

Surprisingly, I haven't had much trouble career-wise with tattoos though. In EMT and paramedic school, I had to wear long sleeves under my shirt at clinicals, but I've never worked anywhere that made me wear long sleeves all the time. My fire department told me I can't wear shorts in the summer, not because I have tattoos on my legs but because one of them is a beer tattoo (told you I wish I had that attitude at sixteen :p). I imagine my other job would probably say the same, but I've never tried it, I'm not too keen on the idea of wearing shorts on an ambulance

I always wear long sleeves to job interviews, etc. And I don't have any tattoos on my face, neck, or hands, so I can still clean up if I have to.

  18. I had no tattoos when I got my current job and I really hope to keep this one for as long as possible. But, where I work is a professional office environment where it doesn't make sense to enforce the covering of tattoos, but we have to have them covered. I have gotten three since then, one of them causing me to wear turtlenecks to work almost every day.
I don't really understand why tattoos are not permitted for most businesses, my daughter was just in the ER and i happened to notice that the doctor she had had two full sleeves, but he was the nicest, most professional ER doctor I had met.
Anyway, I would rather cover my tattoos every day to go to work rather than just have none at all. I go to work to make money. That money is used to pay for bills, and leisurely activities. And my leisure activity sometimes is to get a tattoo or piercing or two. My personal life at home and everywhere but work doesn't care about them, so why should I deny myself something I want solely because I will have to cover them to go somewhere I only go to make money?
And if covering it for 8 hours a day is too much hassle, then you really don't love that tattoo enough to have it put into your skin.

  19. I've never had trouble at work. All my tats can be covered with short sleeve shirts and pants.  I think if I can keep it mostly like that then I won't have any problems.

  20.
I'd say so.... Why get all these tats at a young age?? I mean, when I was 17 or 18 I had no clue what the fuck was going on....lol. Good luck covering those up for interviews man. You better get a boss who likes tattoo's...lol. I hope the subject matter is descent because if it's not you better be sucking up at interviews because it may be hard for you to get a good job.

    Good luck...
