Fat People: Just One More Reason To Blame Government

Discussion in 'Politics' started by yurigadaisukida, Jun 5, 2013.

  1. Why is there an obesity epidemic in America?

Is it because evil corperations like mcdonalds trick people into buying bad food?
    LOL. No.

Is it because people make bad choices?
    Again. No.

Its because dollar per calorie sugar, corn, and wheat are by far the cheapest food source. This is because of regulations and subsidies; not because of supply and demand.

Its because the head of the FDA is allmighty and protects us from evil corperations by telling us to eat bad food.

Its because people on welfare can't afford to base their diet on healthy unprocessed foods.

There are many other contributers to obesity. Health problems. Depression.

But America has one of the highest per capital incidence of mental illness. Why is that?

Could the massive increase in stress in the average persons life possibly be due to the recession?

Could it be that increasing numbers of unemployment and artificial hatemongering propoganda designed to split the country?

People know what's good for them. Most of them are unhappy with their weight and living situation.

Is it really hard to believe that Americans arent just a Bunch of lazy McDonald's eating slobs?

  2. Thanks.

I hate when people blame McDonald's for making people fat.

I can get 400 calroies for a dollar at McDonald's fully cooked and ready to go.

For that same dollar I can get 1600 calories worth of pasta.

If I want to eat healthy, I can spend that dollar on half a head of.lettuce or 2 apples, or a single piece of chicken

  3. Former fatty here, now in excellent shape and run miles every day.

Unless you have a genuine health issue, like a thyroid problem for example, it's your own doing.

It's nobody else's fault. This isn't to say I look down on anyone; there are different value judgements, and it's everyone's right.

  4. The highest incidence of mental illness appears in these forums.

  5. That's why pot is illegal

  6. You can only speak for yourself. Not everyone has the knowledge/money to be healthy.

But yes your right. Technically you have the choice.

But cmon. Can you really fault the majority of people who are in poverty living paycheck to paycheck for getting the cheaper food?

Do you realize just how big the difference is?

Its like I said. 1$ can get me 1600 calories worth of pasta. That's the cheapest food you can get.

Literally millions of Americans are only able to afford a dollar or two a day in food. Not everyone is as lucky as you.

Just recently my wife and I were feeding our family of 3 on less then 30$ a week. And that had to include toilet paper and other nessesities.

Guess who's fault that was? I wont point fingers ill just give numbers. After Obama care went into effect our insurance went up, literally taking 40% of our grocery budget.

I guerentee you wouldn't be able to eat healthy for less then 5$ a day

It's not about how unhealthy it is though honestly. As long as you work out occasionally and do some minor cardio you can basically eat whatever you want and not have to worry about too much weight gain. The problem is the caloric intake combined with inactivity. The same inactivity people have against changing the government. COINCIDENCE?! I THINK NOT!

Joking about the last part obviously but seriously as long as you're somewhat active you have almost no dietary restrictions.

  8. Same. Not that I look down on fat people. But I believe in something called personal responsibility.

It is 2013. Even people with low incomes, apparently,  have access to the world wide web of information. I just Googled "how to eat healthy on a low income" and got thousands of results in 0.3 seconds.

I'm glad you're able to stay in shape. I play basketball 3-4 times a week for about 3 hours.  That is partly how I try to stay fit. I try to drink water and tea, but the soda addiction is hard to kick.

I attribute rising obesity rates to the increasingly sedentary lifestyle people are living. But that is just my opinion, I am no expert.

i also hate when people blame companies for stuff that they have done to themselves.....hard to believe there are people actually stupid enough to not and even stop to think that maybe they aren't eating right or exercisng like they should...i think companies should be able to counter-sue for them being so stupid

  10. Government has contributed a bit, but overall Americans are just extremely lazy.

This is not true at all. Diet matters a lot.

Your right you might not be fat
But that doesn't mean your healthy

    Drink water instead of soda.
Grow some of your own food.
    Take a daily walk.
    Stairs instead of an elevater.
These things cost very little but have huge benefits.

I love the video of the guy that eats a big mac or 2 daily for thirty years and is skinny as a rail.

  14. I have a fast metabolism and I would probably be a fatass otherwise but I hate morbidly obese people they just seem like weak people in the sense that they dont have enough willpower to change themselves. They just accept that it would be too hard to lose weight and let themselves die off faster. Its just gonna be like the movie Wall-E where we become as lazy as possible.

  15. I realize the title was "fat people...", but its really about unhealthy people in general.

And its true people are in control of their own diet and exercise.

But please stop derailing the thread.

The point of the thread is to expose how government controls the food supply, making it harder to eat healthy.

You've all heard about who runs the FDA I'm assuming?

The FDA (food and drug administration) and the USDA (united states department of agriculture) are government agencies designed to protect the people from the corperations.

But though it sounds good its not. Aside from the fact that the FDA/USDA are effetively the fourth branch of the government, making and enforcing over 80% of all laws in the united states without congressional or executive approval; they are also completely controlled by the corperations they regulate.

Thanks go government getting in bed with the rich (as usual), the entire population is lied to about what is healthy. And thanks to government subsidies designed to help big buisness and crush small local farms, many people have little to no choice on what they eat because of food costs.

Yes you can Google eating healthy.on a budget and get tons of results. But have you elactually read them?

You really can't survive on a health food diet without severe calorie restriction if your trying to spend the same ammount as you would just buying ramen

  16. Maybe the government wants to kill us off before we can collect social security?

  17. No. They just want money and power.

    Its pretty simple
