  1. So, this journal has been a long time coming. Much like my growing skills and knowledge, I expect this journal to look much better in the end than it does right now.

Background info...I've grown outdoors 4 out of the last 5 years with family. Moved into my own place in Jan and started piecing together money and ideas.

Settled on a 1000w dimmable system with air cooled hood. 400cfm (for now) 6inch inline. 1st seed order was:

    6x Purple Wreck
2x of Top Dawg, King's Kush, Super Bud, Chemdog
2 free Ufos were Blue Dream and Jack Diesel.

For this run I germed 1 of Top Dawg, Super Bud, and King's Kush. Doing 2 Purple Wrecks. Planted the Tuesday after 420, 1st sprout was my biggest PR on the following Friday (exactly 4 weeks ago).

Started off in 1gallon fabric pots, as of yesterday Super Bud and Top Dawg, my largest girls, were transplanted into 7 gals. I have enough soil to do 1 more transplant, so until I get paid next week the girls are kinda stuck.

I will be picking up nutes next week as well. 3 clones were taken from the KK last weekend, thought she was gonna die and panicked. She looks better now. Other than minor discoloration from hot spots and being too close to the light things seem ok.

Next things on the list after nutes and soil next week are getting a box fan and getting my central ac back up. 80f is a little warm for me and considering we havn't even hit 90 that won't work.

Planning to veg 2-3 more weeks and having everybody 1.5-2 feet tall. Hoping to be done flowering by the end of August. Should be an awesome return for the Fall semester lol. Pics next post

Pics are im order from oldest to newest.

    1. 2 PR on front left, SuperBud back left, KK back middle, TD back right

    2. PR1 front left, TD front right, KK back left, SB back middle, PR2 back right

    3. Super Bud tops growing towards the light 4 days ago. No LST this round, just doing some branch/leaf training to allow light to penetrate lower branches. My family in Jamaica has this perfected to an art.

    4. Top of either PR1 or KK, won't even lie I was pretty stoned and don't remember.

    5. Shot from the back so the runt PR is front left with SB front right, Top Dawg, PR1, and King's Kush in back left to right.

    6. Clones 4 days ago. The 3 together are the King's Kush, above that in the corner is Super Bud, Purple Wreck 1 clone to the left, and Top Dawg is to the farthest left.

    7. After yesterday's transplant. Super Bud and Top Dawg, my biggest ladies, are in 7 gallons. Today I will put either PR1 or KK in another 7 gallon. PR2, PR1, and KK left to right in the 1 gallons. Have them sitting on boxes to be closer to the light lol.

    8. Group shot near canopy

    9. Clones yesterday

Sorry for cell phone pics, it's all I have until I get a better camera. But trust, I will do this before getting too deep into flower. Lights came on at 6 so I'll be eating a quick snack, chopping up 2 roaches to blaze in the bubbler and heading into the room. New pics to come later

    Pretty minor update today...

Holding off on transplant until tomorrow. Looks like it will be the first PR that gets the transplant. Retrained some leaves and branches.

Will water my 1 gallon babies tomorrow and transplant PR1. Other than some possible heat burn spots everything is green. Its also entirely possible the girls are just hungry. FFOF could be the culprit but all the new growth looks nice and green and not burned. Raised the light some anyway to be safe.

Next week can't come fast enough. Got a huge bag of perlite at the hydro store yesterday so I could transplant.

I'm really liking the Top Dawg structure and the fullness of Super Bud. The Purple Wrecks and King's Kush both have started to get very slight pink-purple hues near the colas to be. KK and Top Dawg already have a slight dank smell.

Gonna take a smoke break and check on the clones. Its so easy to get caught up in here for hours even with my small girls. With the game tonight and the usual buddies coming over to chill I always have to do the major stuff before about 9.

Front Row, L-R: Top Dawg, Super Bud. Top Dawg was topped Monday or Tuesday.
Back Row, L-R: Purple Wreck 2 (runt but getting bushy), Purple Wreck 1, and King's Kush.

  5. Thanks man. I've been worried it was light burn lol, I didn't know the FFOF runs hot for seedlings and clones until after planting in it haha. Hoping for the best though. I'm definitely doing 2 Blue Dream next run, and 1 Jack Diesel. I'd love to do an 8 plant, 4-4 indica sativa mix next grow.

Have a seat and make yourself comfy. You guys in the grower section are my favorite GC group, lots of positive vibes. Glad to have you on board  :hello:

  6.  Well let me see if I can squeeze in here.

New pics from not too long ago. Wanted to get some plant profile pics for size reference.

1 and 2: Top Dawg coming along after topping and transplant.

3: King's Kush looking better and developing. Has a nice smell and very slight pink-purpleness across top that my shitty phone cam could never catch...in due time we'll get there

4: Super Bud undergrowth. Branchy and the lower shoots really reach for the light after some branch and leaf training. Imagine serious topping and LST on this thing. I see good things from this girl, it was my last seed to sprout and the most pathetic looking seedling I've seen  :confused_2:

5: Top Dawg undergrowth. Pretty uniform, tops reach for the light. She's my biggest girl, supposed to be Mexi sativa/Afghan indica hybrid. Stinkiest plant so far, only week 4 of veg.

6: Purple Wreck 1. Was the 1st to sprout, pretty leafy but seems to be holding up ok. I'll be transplanting her next.

7: Super Bud expanding nicely. All I see in 4 weeks is budsites and tops for this one.

8 and 9: Purple Wreck 2. Was my least favorite plant until I did some nice branch and leaf training and put her up on a box to be closer. She's filling in nicely and has me more excited than the other one for some reason.

10: Group shot. Closest to cam is King's Kush in center, with PW1 on the right and PW2 on the left. Background is Top Dawg on the left with Super Bud on the right. I know it's hard to see but the height of the Top Dawg kinda shows. I know the leafs look weird on her keep in mind I have many leaves and branches trained so light gets to what will be future budsights.

  8. Subbed Up !!! Looking really nice. I wouldn't sweat anything on the older growth as long as the new stuff is healthy. You are going to like that BD. She is a grower !!! Glad you started a journal.

  9. looking great man, very healthy. youre not running the 1000 watter yet, right?

  10. Thanks man, glad to have you. As many good things as I've heard about FFOF I never thought it would be so hot. I can't wait to pop the BD next round, I'm expecting big things after what I've seen from yours.

I've been at the full 1000 for a week or so. The dimming options are nice but I like what I'm seeing at full power so far.

  11. youre just wasting energy, they dont need that many lumens yet. i would dim it and get it a little closer.

  12. You think so? I didn't plan on running full power for 2 more weeks, but when we had the storms I wanted to make sure I could actually run the 1000w no problem.

They seemed to like it so I left it. I'll lower the light some and drop down to 750 nd see how they like it though.

  13. even 50 watts per plant right now would be better than good. if you could run it at 400 watts, that would be amazing.

  14. Hmm I may dial it back to 500w. The hood barely puts off heat at 500 so I can drop it down even lower.

Minor update, transplanted the biggest Purple Wreck into a 7 gallon pot. The smaller PW and the King's Kush will be transplanted Friday. That will be the end of their 5th week of veg so I'll start feeding either that day or the next.

  15. I like were you head is at on this. I am running only 750 watts right now and getting excellent results. At this stage 500 should be more than enough for those plants of yourss. The 50 watt rule etc..that is just a general guide line. It all boils down to what the plants want and can handle. I have some that would be fine under 1k from the get go and some that can barely handle 750 during flower. I would start with 500 and work your way up in wattage. It may suck using all that soil in 7gals right off the bat but I guarantee you will like the results. Bigger the roots, bigger the fruits. Pot size is the #1 thing that affects my yields in my garden. At least from what I have seen. Happy Growing :)

  16. Thanks man, they seem to really like 750. I've seen the best results with that so far, 500 can get closer but really doesn't penetrate to the lower areas as well. I couldn't find the 5 gals so I had to get the 7s, they definitely eat up soil. If I get 2 or 3 zips per 7 gal I'll be happy. If I had went with 5 gal everyone would be transplanted already but I like the idea of more fruits.

Got my 1st power bill since I setup. 50 bucks, which is 30 less than last month even with more watts running :confused_2:. Lights on in about 2 hours, I'll snap some new pics after I water.

was just trying to put things in perspective for him, but yeah, the plant can take as much as it can take. anymore is wasted energy. nobody really knows how much each plant can use, but 500 for your ladies is more than enough.

  18. No sweat man, I think 1000w was definitely too much for the girls after dimming it down. Either way its good for future reference, since it looks like I can veg at 500 and/or 750, I won't need 1000 until flower. I won't argue with saved wattage. The hood only puts off heat worth mentioning at 1000w so it's cooler as well. I'm thinking I should have just did 4 plants in 7gal, then keep the healthiest clone from each and put into a 2 or 3gal. If all the clones make it I'm at 11 plants, I only planned on having 8. The goal is to get at least 1lb.

Everything looked exactly the same yesterday so I didn't take pics. Hopefully at lights on there's some new growth and stuff worth checking out. The maintenance guy will be checking my AC today too. It's never hit above 82-83 in there but at least I can run the whole 1000w and keep things cool when I'm in flower. Everybody have a safe and enjoyable holiday.

    Pics from last night

1, 2: Purple Wreck 1. You can't see but she has purple stems. Was my biggest plant in the seedling stage. Intricate branching and leafing, I trained and exposed alot her this morning so hopefully she responds well. PR2 in background on pic 2.

3: Left closest to cam Purple Wreck 2, King's Kush. Super Bud, Purple Wreck 1 on right with PR1 closest to cam.

4: Left closest to cam and cut off is PR1, to the right is PR2, KK, next is part of SB, the TD on right closest to cam.

5: King's Kush. I like the structure of this plant. I can't wait to get her in a 7gal.

6: Super Bud. Filling out nicely. All the branch training with her has been paying off. I topped her this morning so she should start bushing out nicely.

7-10: Top Dawg. My favorite plant. I topped her but it looks like she has 4 tops growing now so maybe I accidentally fimmed her. I tried to do the same with Super Bud.

She's may be 14 inches tall or more now. Lots of tops evenly spread thanks to some training.

The 2nd Purple Wreck and the King's Kush are still in 1 gallons. I may start in 2 gallons next run and then go to 7.

I realize some of them are either starving for food or burned from FFOF. I will be taking care of this Friday when I get paid, hopefully it doesn't get worse. If anyone spots specific deficiencies let me know.
