Homemade Grow-Box Setup HELP

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by Mr.StonedSquirrel, May 15, 2013.

  1. Recently I've decided to build a grow box. I can't just go to a store whenever I want, so I'm mostly using things I find around the house. So far I have a plastic storage container (14 inches x 21 inches) lined with tin foil, a computer fan for outtake (exhaust) and a by Solid Savings">wireless fan for intake, and three 20w cfl lights.

I know I don't have that much space, but I need to be stealthy and I only intend on having 1 plant maybe 2. Some people think tin foil isn't the best reflector to use. If it's absolutely needed to be replaced, I have a Thermarest pad that goes under sleeping bags or something. Should I could keep the tin foil, or should I replace with the by Solid Savings">thermarest? Do you think my set up will work at all? If it does work what should I expect the yield to be for 1 plant, 2 max. What brand soil and nutrients would you recommend (preferably something I could pick up at Wal-Mart). Any advice and tips is appreciated. peace  :smoke:

  2. i dont have any experience with the micro growing but i can say just to watch your temps the tinefoil will most likly aid in keeping it hot in there it be betterif the walls were flat white  or if  its circulated well should be good dosnt sound to be a problem although for two plants you may want more than 60 watts you can buy 42watters at walmart for 8 buccks and those car sun reflectors you put in your windsheild for five bucks be better option that tin not necessary tho just a thought sounds good yeild wise idk depends on wattage and many other factors like soil container size and genetics

  3. yeah id get rid of the tin foil, apparently it can burn your plants. Also those cfls look suspiciously small for 20 watts. Are you sure its 20 actual watts rather than the equivalent of 20 incandescent watts? If its a stealth grow you need to do something about the smell, and you will most likely have a problem with vertical space

  4. I agree with buddha, flat white would be better than tin foil or check the camping section at walmart for thermal blankets (there cheap). Id consider doing a small deep water culture grow if you want more yield in that small of a space, it can be thrown together for about $30 with stuff you find at walmart. Your biggest problem is gonna be the smell, cheapest thing i've found so far is ona liquid mixed with soil moist polymer (probably have to order from amazon unless you have a hydroponics store nearby , put a cup full by the fan and it will hide the smell
