I want to play a game... Saw series.

  1. I will come right out and say that I absolutely love the Saw series. And I know that a lot of people hate on it, but I really don't think it gets the credit it deserves.

The first one is my favorite, no doubt. It was more of a thriller than anything and had a fairly unique story for it's time. Plus the ending is one of the greatest twists I've ever seen and I'll be damned if anyone says 'I saw it coming.'

The second was much more intense, and kept up with the style the first film had. More interesting characters and a complex story line left me wanting even more though.

The third, most emotional one, was very well done. It delivered on the story just as well as the scares and had a very horrifying ending indeed.

The fourth, I'll admit, is one of the weaker ones, but I admire the way the new writers got into the series and I now like it better than I did before.

The fifth was great, and added a lot of answers while offering up new questions.

The sixth was incredibly intense and brought back the raw feeling of the first movie. Sure the traps were getting pretty elaborate, but it was very well done and I loved it. It was the first one I saw in theaters too.

So, six great movies led up to a seventh one which I will admit is pretty lame compared to the others. I liked it at first, but when I realized how different it was from the rest and how the writers took the easy way out, I was disappointed. I still liked it, just my least favorite by far. Which sucks, because the original plan they had to end it would of been KICK ASS.

That being said, I kinda want an eighth one to help cushion the blow the seventh one did. What are your thoughts on this and the series as a whole or parts?

They already confirmed they will continue the series, but they are unsure if it will be an eighth, a remake, or a reboot yet.

  2. The first one was great. The second one was okay. The rest were pure, unadulterated crap.

  3. The only one I've seen is Saw 3D (in 2D), and that was a pretty terrible film.

Seven films in 8 years? They must be out of fresh ideas by now.

  4. They actually kept the ideas pretty fresh throughout, with lots of twists and turns in each film that lead to revelations about past films.

If you've only seen the last one (which IS the worst) then you should really give it a chance, just check out the first one. It's a great film.

  5. The first one is the greatest. The music...the atmosphere at the end is just mindblowing.

  6. Maybe I'll give the first one a shot, then. :)

Then again, I'm not so much into gruesome horror, either, but we'll see.

  7. I was never able to follow the story line of saw. I was also kinda young and watched them all at very different times so that could be it. I thought 5 was the last one lol, i didnt know there was a 6 and 7

  8. The first one shows minimal gruesome horror, dealing mostly with the psychological aspects of the series rather than the blood and guts. I think if you're squeamish, you can get through the first two with no problem!

  9. The first one was good. The rest not so much, for me at least.

  10. Saw is just nasty for the sake of being nasty...not much of a plot. I did like 1 & 2 though

  11. ^ But, I have to disagree with you. If you watch all of the films, you will notice there IS a pretty heavily followed plot line that has a beginning, middle, and end throughout all seven films. Sure, some things aren't perfect. But it is a damn good horror series that I give props to for at least trying to maintain a concrete story.

  12. 1 was good.

    That ended there.

But hey! At least they made 1748255492661949164958615488365916488402782748593718585029148281878159927382758819509275818774929595600271625627495000309572761538850200195838166649195020599194926361839959 shitty sequels...

^ see what I did there??

  13. If that was how we judged films almost all of them would be good.

  14.
Not necessarily, all I'm saying that as far as some horror series go, it's respectable for having such a complex story throughout.

  15. Bumping this because for the first time in four years, IF IT'S HALLOWEEN, IT MUST BEEN SAW!

This Halloween, 2014, Lionsgate is rereleasing the original horror classic that started the most successful horror franchise in history. SAW returns for one week only starting Friday, October 31st in select theaters!

As a huge fan of this series, (especially the original) I am incredibly thrilled that I'll get to see my favorite horror movie on the big screen for the first time, ten years after it was originally released! I know this series gets a lot of hate, but I for one am a huge fan and am very excited for this Halloween because of it.

Word on the street is that they've been working on a Saw 8 for *roughly* five years now, which is more time dedicated than any of the previous sequels gestating period! If this rerelease of Saw does well enough to warrant a green light on a new installment, I know many people who will be more than thrilled! The piece of crap 7th one really needs to be redeemed in my book.

    LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
