  3. OK... I Did It, Dropped the seeds in water tonight :D :D :D

So I Officially Started this Grow on Friday 4-26-13 @ 11:11 PM Eastern :hello::hello::hello:
    (Cell Phone Time)

For the record, that's 4 seeds of Vision Feminized Northern Lights
(this is the actual pack, there are 5 seeds so I picked the 4 best lookin ones and saved the 5th one)

I have the four 5 gallon smart pots in place with the soil

Then a Tupperware for some height
(maybe I'll use it for a clonin chamber for Charlie Brown)

Next is the 4 Solo cups for the seeds
(with 3/4 to top of soil dug from the center of each smart pot)

Then you will see my remote air temp & humidity sensor, temp alarm, and room fan thermostat
(white round thing with 3 wires on the right)

There is also a temp alarm in the solo cup on the front right side for soil temp

This may seem like over kill BUT this is an UNTESTED setup by a NOOB, so this way I can tell if I'm Burnin them (hopefully :D)

    I Have Two Questions:

    1) Should I make drain holes in the Solo cups ?

    2) Is 12 hours in the water enough, or should I go the full 24 hours?
(I don't want to "drown them")

I want to take a minute to THANK EVERYONE who has helped me get to this point
All the Continuing Motivation, Help & Advice, So MUCH Caring :)

And just the all round "Family" Feeling I get from So Many People at Grass City :)

Thanks for any input on what you all see in there :):):)

And Now.... On To Learning How To "Maintain" & "Construct" That Wondrous Thing Called "Living Soil"

(TIME FOR 2nd auxiliary RAM Upgrade For My BRAIN )

  4. I Have Two Questions:

    1) Should I make drain holes in the Solo cups ? YES

    2) Is 12 hours in the water enough, or should I go the full 24 hours? 12 is fine. (Zero is fine) Dont plant deep. 1/4" is good. Keep moist.
(I don't want to "drown them")

What medium are you starting them in? I say your KIS soil is fine.

  5. Looks like an excellent setup.. And their off and running.. I have a pair of Northern Lights clones in this last grouping I've had about 10 days..

  6. I love watching a plan come together ;)
    CONGRATULATIONS DOOB!!

Just a note (you know I HAVE to be a smart-ass...it's written in my genetic code)...if I had an alarm set to 79F in my room, I'd be hearing alarms all....day.....long some days

    I consider 75-80F my optimum temps ;)

  7. Heeeeelllllllllooooo"Old Doobie" Thank you for the invite to your page. I must say i am liking this all ready. i am new to this type of thing. I have been a smoker for better n 2 decades.Last year I obtained my grow script here in Central,CA.Ain't not had but two weeks without smoke since may of last year.I smoke early and all day long and most of the nite too to try to keep my P.T.S.D. from overloading my bi-pedal brain. Two week lag was due to pops dying and tendin to family bidnass.I had to leave right in the middle of my first grow(72) sumpin like 9 strains i ran. Kaaaaachewwwaaaa never thought I would make it thru dat. Went indoor cause I am alone besides ol' lady and her kids. i do all my own tendin of garden well sometimes she comes to supervise. She does nor partake. Now I am runnin 20 la clones and 32 ? seedlings. Here's a question I got about 8 girlies that are starting to stink like a cats piss.My chamber is beyond secure so I know it is not from an interloper entering. Do you have any ideas as to what type of strain this might be? Few years back that cat piss shit was real hot out here in ca.Thought it dyed out have not seen or heard of it in some time.

  8. Hey do i gotta sweep r somethin so I can drag my ass up a spot on the floor? cause ya know I will.

  9. I grew Jack Herer last season. It has the "cat piss" in spades. Just FYI. :D

  10. I got that with Wonder Woman too....could be all kinds of things :confused_2:

  11. :bongin:You better give me all that cat piss smelling weed so I can dispose of it properly for you..:smoke:

  12. I Have Two Questions:

    1) Should I make drain holes in the Solo cups ? YES. Drywall screw makes perfect drainage holes in a bottom of solo cups. 6-8 and you are golden.

    2) Is 12 hours in the water enough, or should I go the full 24 hours? 12 is fine. (Zero is fine) Dont plant deep. 1/4" is good. Keep moist. Use the spray bottle and spray the soil surface moderately.

  14. I'm with Jerry we need bud porn please!

Hope all you heads are doing good. I'm gonna go cut some clones so I can start smoking for the day! Or maybe I'll just prep all my shit then smoke THEN cut clones! Yup that sounds much better that spending 5 more minutes with myself all alone in my head :)

    Peace

  15. Hillbilly, what and how do you manage your clones/method?

    Just curious.

    Looking for more porn!

  17. Well today was my second time. Today I put 1/4 teaspoon Natures Guide Root Stimulator with about a tablespoon Lilly Of The Desert Aloe Vera I added water with about 1/4 teaspoon of honey . As I cut the lower shoots I put them in the solution. They soak while I prep solo cups of soil and saturate the soil. I then pull each cutting out of the solution and scrape back the outer paper part of the stem but not into the soft tissue. Trim the end off at 45* and split it about 1/4" and put it back in the solution while I prep the other clones. Then once everyone is ready I dip them one at a time in honey making sure I coat the whole stem that will be in soil even past where I scrape. Then into the soil, packing it down around the stem making sure it is packed all along the stem. Then I water lightly to make sure it is all settled in. Once they are in soil all fan leafs get a hair cut and on the perlite they go. I built a mini SIP and use a tall humidity dome. The soil will stay saturated but not soaked and the air will stay humid.

The last time it was similar but with root riot cubes instead of soil and I didn't do the coating in honey. The honey I use is local raw honey so it has all the goodies.

I am hoping these clones will take, the same girls cloned great last time despite my abuse so I am hoping that these will take quicker and be more vigorous.

I don't think I left anything out but if you have questions or suggestions I'm all ears.

    Peace:wave:

  18. Thanks Miss Noob, I felt that way too (good feeling watching a plan come together) I hung the "big gun" fan as a finishing touch to the room (pics below)

Keep in mind the "input temp" was 68 F that day, I love having a reading on the input temp because the exhaust temp will affect it (till I start venting outside)

I always felt like a bit higher temp is what the plant likes...

Yeah, the very First time I smelled that was in like 1984, they were calling it "Jamaican" it looked really strange and smelled really STRONG (like an ammonia smell) It cost double what "REGS" cost and there was nothing like the "green bud" we have today, so it was a very rare thing

Honored to have you, I'll keep the smoke passin :D:D:D

    UPDATE:

4-26-13 11:11 PM I put the seeds in distilled water for about 12 hours, they all went to the bottom by morning
4-27-13 01:00 PM Planted seeds in wet KIS soil (no deeper than 1/4 inch, just enough to cover seeds)

The soil is about 77 to 80 degrees F
I mist it with my spray bottle (distilled water) as it shows signs of losing moisture (about twice a day)

Would it be better to not keep them under the light
I figured it was just like nature "outside" BUT there is no Night setting right now, just running 24 hours on, cause of Charlie Brown

Because of how I took this picture you can now see the KIS soil in the smart pots, see the centers where I removed the soil for the Solo cups

Put finishing touches on the room, mounted the "Air King 9012 Commercial Grade Oscillating Wall Mount Fan, 12-Inch"
GLAD I spent the extra money on this, I already took it all apart and the motor is TOUGH, Great build & Quality, I don't want ANYTHING causing a fire
The Oscillating mech is really nice. ($42.30 delivered with Amazon Prime)

Amazon.com: Air King 9012 Commercial Grade Oscillating Wall Mount Fan, 12-Inch: Home & Kitchen

I had to remove the grill to get it to fit between the wall by the door (to the right) and the cord that holds the hood and the fire suppression (on the left)

There is about 1.5 inches of clearance on both sides

Removing the Grill also makes it move much more air and much less to clean
(it is also very safe cause the blade is plastic and I have been hit with them before, no biggie)

I LOVE the fact that it mounts to the wall, I was able to put it almost at ceiling height and now it keeps the temps the same throughout the room (don't want tons of hot air up there cause the fire suppression triggers @ about 155 F)

I also like the "pull string" switch it has, at first I thought, if the string breaks you are screwed, BUT the string just ratchets the knob from off, Low, Med, High, so the knob would still be there

The Oscillating covers the front and back of the room Very nicely

And Finally, a few questions Please :)

(you must know this is coming :D)

    1) About how many days till I see my girls poppin out of the soil ? :D

    2) Would it be better to not keep them under the light
I figured it was just like nature "outside" BUT there is no Night setting right now, just running 24 hours on, cause of Charlie Brown

    3) And lastly, I found a local place that constructs organic soil, I want to grab some to replant Charlie Brown, Can you look at the 2 types and tell me which one sounds right for Our beloved plant?

    Premium Blend Potting Soil
Ideal for growing food in containers, transplanting, tropicals, and indoor plants.

    • Our most moisture-retentive blend, chocked full of compost and worm castings
    • Use for small containers, window boxes or for any plants that need moist soil
    • Cut your watering time in half! You'll water half as often as compared with peat-based mixes.
    • Harvest twice as much! Research trials show tomatoes grew twice as large, with twice as many fruits when grown in Premium Blend, compared to our competition.
    • For best results, add a balanced, organic fertilizer at planting time
    • Contains: compost, pine bark, coir, worm castings, and perlite (more worm castings and compost than our Container Blend)
    OR

    Container Blend Potting Soil
Our all-purpose organic potting soil, perfect for repotting plants, container gardening, outdoor plants, and more!

    • Excellent drainage properties, yet holds moisture well
    • Perennials, Woody Plants and Herbs love it!
    • Great for large containers: from 2 to 100 gallons
    • For best results, add a balanced, organic fertilizer at planting time
    • Save money and reuse it! Our compost-based soils do not break down as quickly as peat-based mixes. Simply fluff the mix back up, remove any large root balls, and replant.
    • Contains: compost, pine bark, coir, worm castings and rice hulls (more coir and pine bark than our Premum Blend).

They Also have "Tea" "Bags" !!!

  19. Looking good Doobie!

Hey watch your soil temp, it's normally better to have it in the 65-70 range since most microbes do the damn thing in that range.

I would combine both of those blends together honestly, just for the extra castings from the first paired with the Silica release from the Rice Hulls in the second.

You might want to try and find straight castings if you can just to make sure everything is peachy, also ask the local place what they feed the worms!

Looks like your on the right track though! You should see beans sprouting with 4-6days depending, sometimes you get a straggler coming in @ 11. I keep mine under the light so once they can start turning green as soon as they break the surface.

    HaGGarD

  20. MnM got it already no sense in repeating him.

I'm getting excited over here! You should have green sprouts soon.

How is that Charlie Brown girl coming?

    Peace
