Attack of the clones! No more seed plants in my room right now, just clones of my first grow (except for the mother). Check out the journal for info on this bagseed strain. I have two sets of clones, with two clones each. The A's were taken first. Alice and Annabelle are in the vegging stage, which starting today is going to consist of only LED. This is sort of a test to see if they can keep these plants growing. I like them because they are very stealthy, and most of all efficient. You used to be able to see my closet glowing from the street, mostly because of the daylight bulbs in my veg "chamber." Now you can't see anything.

The B's are Bessie and Bonnie. They were flowered as soon as they were rooted. Pistils are just beginning to show. They are under 2x 42w 2700k CFL's and 1 30w 6500k CFL.

All plants are in Fox Farms soil, being fed Fox Farms food, and are in small pots to keep their size down. I water with the tap, and I'm not using my fan now since it's cold enough to keep temps 80 and under without it.

I am trying to germinate a seed for JollyRoger227, but it turned black and won't sprout. I will be doing more seed grows later on with all the seeds from my last harvest, which is in my second grow journal.

I grow for personal use, not to sell. I think I've found my balance where I can supply myself pretty well with only one or two plants at a time. I don't use HID lights cuz I just don't need them for this size of a grow. CFL's have proven themselves to be enough. I wish it was legal because I'd teach everyone I knew how to grow, cuz it's just so much more satisfying smoking your own crop than a bag from a dealer. This is one of my new favorite hobbies!

The seed still isn't sprouting? I was told to wipe it off and put it in like a new papertowel/bag/hot area from someone else on here.. hmm well I'm assuming you already tried that? :(

We'll figure it out, if not we can always try again :)

The clone twins all look good too!

Wow. Today started off sucky with a trip to the dentist, but just took a interesting turn. I now have a film canister half full of Panama Red seeds from at least 30 years ago. Obviously, I will begin germinating as soon as I set up more room. The two vegging plants also might be put into flower soon. Any info on Panama Red? Sativa? Indica? Am I gonna need a tropical climate for this? I am so excited this is amazing.

I'm just hoping those 30 year old seeds were stored under a 1 mile thick polar-iceshelf.:D

Nope, a film canister. I'm going to try germinating a couple as any other seed. I have a lot...I can risk a few. It seems they are long flowering sativas, so some LST will be in order. I read 14 weeks. I'll try 3 seeds tonight.

Alright here we go. New setup. Big Mama is alone in the veg box now with just a 30w daylight to keep her alive. All other plants are flowering. Lighting in the flower room is 2x42w 2700k, 2x26w 2700k, and 1 25w 6500k without the reflector to throw a little blue light around. LED's are also moved down. Bessie and Bonnie are beginning to bud, but my dumb ass burnt them again cuz I didn't check on em enough. Not bad though, they'll be ok. They are on day 13 of flowering. Alice and Annabelle are now in 12/12 to start their flowering cycle cuz I need to make room for this Panama Red grow. It's gonna be a long haul. The 3 seeds are germinating in wet paper towel wrapped in plastic and placed on my warm computer. I'm going to mix some compost from our house into their soil, which will probably be Fox Farms cuz I like their soil. Again, any info on this strain would be very helpful.

Seeds still haven't hatched yet, but give em time they're older than me. I moved around my setup so the plants can share the lights better, and so I can't burn any more tops. Alice is showing sex just barely, a single microscopic hair. Annabelle is right behind her, the little bud is there just no hair yet. Observe.

POST 420!!!:smoke:
Some old guy that married my mom gave em to me in exchange for a 1/2 from my last crop to ease the chemo. He'd kill me if he found out I posted that on the internet, so don't tell him. Apparently he had been saving them for years because it was "the best pot I've ever smoked." That's why I put the A girls into flower, because I'm growing for two now. Imagine the reaction when I send him back to his teens with some Panama Red. I am going to get some seaweed extract, because I was told it helps germination. I will also try putting a couple seeds in the fridge for a week if these 3 don't sprout.

Anyway, things are going well in the grow closet. I'm gonna start counting Alice and Annabelle's flowering days with today as day 1. Alice is catching up to Annabelle with maybe 3 inches now in hieght difference. Bonnie and Bessie are on day 18, and doing well despite the burns. I wanted to top one of them but I think it's too late now. I may top Alice or Annabelle according to Dierwolf, cutting off the budlet at the top about a week in. I also trimmed Mama some more, because she's just too bushy, and I don't need all that growth. I hate to stress her, but it's the only way. I gave her a little superthrive to deal. The B's were watered, but the A's didn't need it yet. The B's are in 6 inch pots, does 1 cup (8oz) of water seem enough?

I've taken down the LED's today to attempt to modify them to focus their light more. I'm going to take a regular reflector and drill holes in the rim where I'll mount the LED clusters. They shoot their light in a straight line pretty much, so they don't actually need to be in the reflector. Instead, I'll continue to use a regular CFL bulb in the socket of the reflector. I hope this works, or I blow 160 bucks of light. What do you think?

Edit: Quickly realized this is a bad idea, because the reflector is indeed metal and would be touching all the little pins on the back of the LED clusters. Any ideas of what else I could mount them on?

The LEDs plastic casing is a lens by itself which focuses the light.
From the manufactures specification you can see how big the light angle is in degrees.
It varies from as much as 6 to 60 degrees.
All you can do then is try to find the optimum distances from the leaves.

So I guess reflectors won't help you much here. Sorry!

No what I'm trying to do here is rearrange them. The bar was missing most of the plants. I'd rather have them closer together so they make a nice big circle of focused light. I thought it would be cool to mount them in a circle around a CFL and a reflector, but since that won't work I want to ghetto rig them to something I can mount from the ceiling.

OK I see.
Since heat is np you can use wood.
So get a plank, make 3 big circular holes in it.
Paint it white.
Fix your lights in the holes.
Hook up some chains on the ceiling and plank.
Wire it up and there ya go.

Day 24 of flowering for the B's. They're doing ok, I've noticed they're showing a little pink color in the pistils, something their mother did too a little bit. For some reason you can see it better in the second picture, but theyre both about the same. The A's are starting slowly, this is day 6. I put the fan back in because I came home today to a 89 degee room and a burnt leaf above one of the 42w's. The seeds aren't doing anything yet.

I soaked 3 more seeds last night in water and superthrive. I'm going to try to get gibberellic acid today if these still don't work. I hadn't soaked the first 3 in water, so I'm wondering if it'll make a difference. 1 dropped in 5 minutes, 1 more this morning, and 1 more just now. They're soaking with the other 3 in paper towel.

I decided to put my tubes to use. I got another kitchen and bath 3000k tube (I only had 1), and set them up above the A's. The 2 26w CFLs that were there are now in front of the A's, lighting from the bottom. I put the LED's back cuz I couldn't think of any good way to mount them. They're farther back, only lighting the B's.

The B's are getting N deficiency, as well as my favorite brown spots and red stems due to lack of calcium. It's wierd how it starts near the lights, I guess cuz that's where activity is highest and it uses up Ca quicker, since it's an immobile element. I'll give them ashes, that seems to work well.

And the A's. Hairs are poking out the top and all nodes. This is day 9 of flowering for them. Still green and healthy, but stems are starting to redden, so I'm going to give them ashes too before Ca def. hits hard.

Nothing from the seeds, I'm going to get gibberellic acid and try that as soon as I can shake this plague. Meanwhile, flowering carries on. This is day 32 for the B's, 14 for the A's. I topped the top bud of Alice on day 9 to see if it helps any.
