Does anybody here work for a Fortune 500 company?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by insomniasucks, Apr 13, 2013.

  1. If so, PLEASE answer the following:

    1) What company Fortune 500 company did/do you work for and what is the position's title?

    2) Was a drug test required when the company hired you? (if no, ignore further questions)

    3) Was the drug test conducted during the same day as your interview? If not, state when you were drug tested (such as the first of the job)

    4) Was the drug test conducted at the hiring company's location? Or was it contracted to another company?

    5) Was it a urine or hair test?

BIG THANKS to everyone who replies to this

  2. I work as a senior corporate financial analyst at Berkshire Hathaway. I believe they're ranked top 10 of fortune 500 companies.

Drug test is mandatory. Urine test is required before they hire you. I was also tested once, during my first month of work.

Drug test was conducted on site by another company.

Urine tests only. If they did a hair test you have no chance.

They usually give you an hour's notice before your test. So what you have to do is strap on a fake penis, heat pads, synthetic urine or your own urine from a period that you haven't smoked in a while. Someone will be looking over you when you piss so just pull out the fake penis and you're all good. If you're a girl, you get more privacy as most of the testers are males.

I highly recommend not smoking if you have a good position at a fortune 500 company. There's too much to lose if you do get caught. In order to get this position, I had to go through a double degree in mathematics and finance. Then I had to do my Master of Corporate Finance. Smoking does affect judgment no matter what people say.

Once you're settled in, you can probably smoke on Friday nights when the markets are closed. That way, by Sunday, you'll be fresh to start analyzing companies again.

Having said all that, I still smoke, but only on Fridays and Saturdays.

PS: DELETE THOSE SMOKING PICTURES ON FB AND TWITTER AND ALL THOSE OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PRODUCTS. Those are the first things they check before they hire someone.

Thanks, but when did they test you? The first day of the job?

So did the other company drive over to your company's location to drug test you? Seems inefficient since they have to pay the employees for driving to your spot as well as gas and vehicle expenses just to test one person.

  4. Yeah, I have.

    AT THE INTERVIEW THOUGH

Drug tested on the spot, forgot that I smoked a few days earlier, and FAILED.

The nice roasty waterfall rips I took to stone my brain were amazing though. My brain felt all fuzzy and boo boo bachoo choo OOOOo stoney rone banoney :).

But it wasn't worth losing that job opportunity. My advice is to just take a break for a while until it's sorted out.

  5. Id appreciate it if you guys can answer ALL of the questions. I purposely numbered the questions to make it easy for you guys.

  6. So you were hired on the spot right after your interview? How many interviews did you have?

Bump. I guess your average toker just isnt the corporate worker type.

  8.
or your average grasscity user...  believe it or not theres more stoners out there then on this internet forum..  also why is this in smokers and usage: tokers Q&A???

  9. true. your average grasscity user isnt the corporate worker type. i imagine most to be 16-22 year olds.

this is in the Q&A because it's the best place for a response

  10. Is McDonald's a fortune 500 company????

.....cuz I totally work there bro :)

  11. lol Idk if Kroger is, but I work there and they tested me upon hiring.

  12. Fast food/gas stations are the only jobs that don't, besides independent businesses. If you want to get a job, you're gong to have to pee clean, even at Walmart.

  13. shit they drug test at gas stations, my brother is a manager at Flying J's and has been for years, he was hired as a normal cashier and was DT'd for the hire on and for the promotion...ive never worked in fast food but a friend of mine worked at Wendy's and they gave him a mouth swab test...

they even DT'd at AutoBell Carwash (my first job)

and whoever asked, i know it was a joke, but yes McDonlads is a fortune 500 company

I'm going into third year majoring in finance with a minor in applied mathematics with a 3.7 GPA right now, I smoke 2-3 times daily, and my marks went form a 75 average in high school to the 85-90 average I've had all through university SINCE I started smoking daily, used to only smoke occasionally in high school.

@ the guy who said smoking affects your judgment, you're right, but whether it's in a negative or positive way is COMPLETELY dependent on the person.

Believe it or not your "average toker" isn't what you see here on these forums. To back that up, my father has smoked a minimum of 5 times a week since his teens, he is now in his 50s, works as a lawyer in one of the most renowned law firms in Canada, and makes 200k+ a year. His 5 best friends, who he has been friends with since high school/university, are ALL daily tokers as well, and ALL make 100k+ a year and have families.

Anyone who says you cannot be a fully functioning person as a toker is either the type of person not suited to doing so from a biological point of view, or just plain ignorant, or both.

EDIT: Sorry OP I know this answers none of your questions.

  15. I work at a very large medical laboratory, i wont name which one, but its one of the largest in the country and growing quickly internationally. We contract out our employment drug testing to a local office, and they require you to take your drug test within 24hrs of your initial acceptance to the position. Luckily, ive been here for many years and they have not re-tested.

  16. Ive been at my new place for one month today and I wasnt tested.

Incorrect. Only 1 of my 6 legitimate jobs Ive had in my lifetime has tested and it required significant driving duties with $60k vehicles.

Neither Google nor Microsoft drug test its employees. Im a software engineer working in IT.

I'd be surprised if medical labs DIDNT test

  17. Not going to answer the questions by numbering them, because I'm only answering the first two.  I currently work for a Fortune 500 company and I have never been drug tested by my employer.  The basis of my job, however, is to work for our customers at our customers' offices, which are other Fortune 500 companies.  Those customers are allowed to drug test me, and it is written into the contracts that the customers/my company sign.  Luckily once I get on a project at a customer, I can determine whether or not a DT will be performed, and if they aren't, I'm free to smoke until the contract is about to expire.

It is a complete fallacy that larger corporations DT for salaried jobs.  While some do, a large number do not.  These companies will DT low-level jobs because they are looking for drones - they don't care about personality, who you are as a person (non-drug-use wise) etc., they've looked at the numbers and get the most out of their low-income employees by a strict set of guidelines - one of those is that you aren't stupid enough to fail a DT.

Obviously for high-risk salaried jobs, the chances of being drug tested are probably rather high.  For instance, if you are performing any sort of manual labor involving heavy machinery, there's a good chance of a DT.  If you handle any sort of hazardous materials, if you perform control testing for a company's products, if you maintain IT security for a company etc.

  18. 1. Walmart, Staples, Dell, Boeing  no longer work for any of them. stick it to the man.

    2. Walmart, yes, Staples, no, Dell, yes, Boeing, yes.

    3. Walmart, same day, Dell and Boeing weeks after interview but before training.

    4. All tests required me to go into a lab/clinic.

    5. Piss.

  19. I work under a pillar of ManpowerGroup(144 on Fortune 500 List)

ManpowerGroup is the largest staffing firm in the world and this pillar under manpowergroup(and possibly the whole company) DOES NOT DRUG TEST AT ALL.

I'm a recruiter and sell people jobs all day. I don't get high before work, but after work I take non-stop dabs till I fall asleep. I get high every single day without a worry of losing my job.

    Types of recruiters:
    Engineering
    Financial
    IT

    Pillars of Manpowergroup are:
    Manpower solutions
    Experis
    Right Management
    Manpower
