Hi GC, I'm relatively new to smoking weed. I've read online that it can be bad for your heart but I rarely believe anything the government tells me. Why would an increase in heart rate be bad? I'm 19 and I work out every day and have a good diet. No family history of any health problems and I take a lot of fish oil supplements. My resting heart rate is like 60-65 but I do notice that after I smoke a bowl it goes up to 75-90. Is this normal? I'm just curious about this bcuz I will admit I am a hypochondriac. Thanks guys. Brad
Hello Brad! It was my understanding that while it slightly increases your heart rate it also thins your blood, negating any detrimental effects to your cardiac tissue. Don't take my word for it though! Do some research! Knowledge is power!
It may elevate your heart rate while using, but it's not a permanent side affect from what I've experienced. For me at least, it usually subsides about an hour after smoking. I have noticed that my heart rate increases much more easily under stress after smoking. So, if you were to have a genetic heart condition it may be dangerous, but as you said, you and your family are pretty healthy. I don't think there's anything to worry about really.
thats just what weed does, raises your heart rate a bit. no biggie though. keep in mind that it happens to everyone every time (for the most part) and not one single person has ever died from marijuana directly, and there's unhealthy 400lbs slobs smokin out there. so if you are the first to die from it....consider it an honor
i wouldnt say "dangerous". might make you sick, but unless you drink a fuckton it will be the alcohol that will kill you. and would have killed you whether you smoked anyways.
It raises your heart rate less than sex! Are you healthy enough for sex? Then weed shouldn't do your heart harm! If you DO manage to have a heart attack, if you have used cannabis during the last 48 hours, the THC will help PROTECT your heart! Is weed bad for your heart, no. Is smoking bad for your heart, yes. The debatable is to what extent is smoking weed bad for your heart, but it is certainly bad.
