Very determined to blow glass.

  1. Hey all like the title says this has always been my dream to start blowing glass and in a few months i will have the funds to buy myself a torch and kiln, etc. and some of the blowers on here like LEAR and instablaze have definately inspired me. i've already messed around for like 2 hours on a methane torch before and thought it was fun as shit. i'm pretty artistic already and i'm the type of person that will try something over and over again until it's right so i think that glassblowing would be perfect for me. i know i need regulators, tanks, tools, a bench, glass obviously lol, ventilation, and idk what else. so are there any glassblowers that can help me out and give some tips or whatnot for someone who is very very determined to start up? thanks.

  2. You can probably find a class someplace or maybe a community college might offer it as a non-credit class. The community college would be your easiest route if you live in a populated enough area.

  3. philadelphia is the closet place that teaches classes but thats 2 hours away and the LHS here won't give me the name of their blower. so i will most likely be self-taught.

  5. made an account earlier today and have been reading up.

  6. Haha yea I doubt they would give that to you since it is sort of the basis of their business.

  7. Would be nice if this thread turned into an informational thread instead of one that points out links to another. I know nothing about blowing glass except what I've seen at festivals. Im gonna check out the glass link because this just sparked an interest. I'm with you on learning to blow,, what I have heard is your gonna get burnt bad at some point.
