Tiny fan leaves and some yellowing

  1. So i have 2 5 gallon buckets. One bucket im doing LST and a few tops when they need it to keep the canopy even. Now in the other bucket I'm just topping and fimming. I just want to figure out which methods i like best since this is my first grow. So far its LST with topping, they just seem to be doing a lot better. I have 1 100w bulbrite plant light on each (i just wanna see if they work) and 1 54w cfl on each. Both in soiless mixes although one has lore perlite (the one thats actually looking bad). I have 4 plants in each pot since I'm gonna end up with 1 or 2 females per bucket since their bagseed from brickweed.

The fan leaves on the plants in the one bucket seem to have just stopped growing. Their all so small compared to the others. Also theres some yellowing on some leaves and some pieces of leaves are missing. I think the lights were to close because that plant light gets really hot and i was trying to keep it from heating up the cfl which is 2-3 inches. If i get the angles right he cfl doesnt get hot from the plant bulb and their looking a little better. The main thing is the small fan leaves. Its growing at a normal speed as far as vertical growth and new nodes the leaves are just a quarter or half the size of the other plants. These plants are 4 weeks old tomorrow. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

  2. What's your run-off PH?

  3. About 6.5. I have drops and its a little lighter than 6.8 and thats as low as it goes on the tester.

  4. You need to get some Mn in the mix, best absorbed in soil at a ph level of 5.5-6.5

  5. Micro nutrients? Ive been feeding them AN's jungle juice trio. I do 1 gallon per bucket and ive been putting 3 tsp grow, 2 tsp micro and 1 tsp bloom per gallon. Ive fed them twice that way and the one time before i did 1-1-1.

  6. Does it say on any of the labels that it contains Manganese?

  7. Yeah the micro does, it says .05% chelated magnese.

  8. If you get that in the mix at the proper amount along with your properly PH'd water your issue will be stayed. Don't expect the browning to go away, you'll have to live with it, just get the Mn in there or the plant will be stunted.

  9. Ive been giving them 2 tsp of micro per gallon. I know the burns wont go away though. Could it be temps? My room gets 90 sometimes so i know the canopy probably sits at 100 every now and then.

  10. Next feeding ill switch the feeding in that pot to grow/micro/bloom 2-3-1 instead of 3-2-1. Lucas formula doesn't use grow and the micro has all your nitrogen and what not in it. You probably already knew that though. Thanks for the help man. My weakest point in growing is not knowing how to properly diagnose sick plants aside from the obvious like N burn, over/under watering, that kinda stuff.

  11. You may be right about the heat stress? You say you been giving micro's? Does this include the Mn, have you been getting that in there?

  12. those are classic symptoms of nutrient burn. ease up on your nutrients and water with only clear water next time to allow any nutrient salts in your medium to leech.

get some airflow in there to cool temps, too

  13. Yes it does have Mn and ive only fed them twice, and barely at that. Why would i need to flush? There shouldn't be salt buildup after 2 feedings right? Also i think it could be that i don't have enough lights because from what I've seen these bulbrite plant bulbs don't work for shit. Also i have a 12 in fan blowing in there on low and my inline fan with carbon scrubber should be here in about a week or so. Im gonna switch to 12/12 when i get that because they will be 5 or 6 weeks by then.

It looks to me like you've got a combination of underlying minute issues to resolve... you indicate that your PH is stable, so you would not need to flush in that regard. Now, if OSUB is correct (he could very well be), you may have applied to much nutrients in the two times that you watered, don't know and can't ascertain, but heat stress may not be expressed, I reviewed the pics again it just doesn't appear to be heat. What about you RH (I see canoeing of some leaves and brown crispy spots and edges both indicative of Mn deficit and nute burn), are you measuring that electronically so you'll know what it is? I'd run enough water through next time and measure the run-off again to be certain it's not a PH issue, then work from there eliminating each issue independently of another so you'll know where you stand. Your plants are not that bad at present as long as you figure this out. Apply nutes minutely only after your sure it's not PH related.

  15. Ive been measuring it with a metal teaspoon. Im pretty sure i don't have enough lights to make it through this grow either. Could it also be because their aren't enough lumens from my lights for all the plants to thrive so their producing these really tiny leaves. They seemed to have stopped growing too as far as i can see.

  16. You'll need more light for sure.

  17. If i can get the money soon i found a cool tube 600w ballast with a MH and HPS bulb for 180 bucks ill put that on there. Until then all i can do is add a few more CFL's and hope for the best. Im gonna do DWC my next grow in these buckets i can get that are about 8 inches longer than a 5 gallon bucket, order some real seeds and do this shit right.

  18. I would scoop up that cool tube if u can bro. Sounds like a pretty good price for all that's included. Nice grow by the way!

  19. Thanks man, I've been feeling down about them lately so the compliment helps. I posted a newer thread with my old lights and new ones. I swapped the 2plant lights out for cfl's.
