  6. On point as always at zombie farms. Definitely gonna need help trimming haha. I am not missing that this year we didn't even finish last years trimming till a couple months ago we had so much.

  7. Ok so I had a really good day at work today and I just wanted share because it really blessed me.

For those who don't know I have seventeen years in critical care medicine as a respiratory therapist.

I had two patients today that told me they truly felt that I had saved there lives.

One was quadriplegic that had been in the er a few months prior. She lived at a care facility where she had been ignored when she told them she felt like she had pneumonia again.
She had been to the clinics and er over the previous weeks. All ignored her. As soon as I saw her I knew she was in a bad way. I started some aggressive pulmonary hygiene treatments on her and got one of the er doctors attention. Her x-ray showed a bad pneumonia. She was admitted to the icu. She said I was the only person who actually listened to her and that I saved her life.

The next was a trauma patient from a couple weeks ago. After we removed the patient from the respirator her pulmonary status was still pretty compromised. She had multiple rib fractures and long bone fractures so getting her up was difficult. A bedridden patient is a compromised patient.
I worked my ass off to keep her from having to go back on the respirator for three days. I come back today after a few days off and she's looking much better and still off the ventilator. She thanked me for saving her life.

The last thing that happened really touched me.

I was taking care of another trauma patient with a bad head injury who was on life support. The patients family was at the bedside constantly and they were very loving. We were just starting to see signs of purposeful movement on my last day of work. When I come back today she was still on the ventilator but was awake and following commands. I held her hand and she felt my arm and my shirt like she was feeling things for the first time.

It feels really good when I have one of these days.

    That's awesome.

  11. Right-on sticky!

A Respiratory Therapist is the one who told me I had sleep apnea, after catching me sleeping, sitting on the edge of the bed.

I was in for a 23 day stay for loculated pleural effusion.

Two chest tubes, bigger one in my side and hooked to the wall to suction,

and a smaller pig tailed one in my back to shoot the critters in to eat away the loculation.

I remember after the two dorky internist work for an hour and made every excuse an attending came in and popped it in quickly.

The feeling I experienced after she popped the hemostats through the tissue beyond my ribs was similar to an orgasm.

As that bloody foul shit came gurgling out of my side and into my bed.

It was the RT that came by every few hours for my breathing treatments.

They were more compassionate with me than anybody in the hospital.

Not being able to breathe is a horrible feeling and they knew it.

It is fantastic to know that you changed their lives in such a dramatic way.

Keep up the good work, sticky!  You the man!

  12. I know someone who wants to hire you dude

Ha ha are you talking to me?  I'm completely unemployable.

I can't wear pants, I've been blessed with a super bad attitude, and I have to take my dog to work.

I could probably do some porno but they'd have to work around my schedule.  lol

It is an idea. ..but I was talking to stickman. My girl is director of anesthesiologist...respiratory care and perfusion at UIC hospital and has 5 1/2 openings. ..I figure stick will take up 1 1/2...lol

  16. That is great news Sticky, keep up the great work. This is coming from some one with bad asthma, not being able to breath is some scarry shit. Glad to hear there are people out there like you that really care about other peoples health.

  17. I had my fair share of respiratory therapist, but if I'm ever in need I'll hit you up stick, I had 2 spontaneous pneumothorax, the second time they trimmed the "weak spots" out and stapled something (lung or sack ) around my ribs to keep it from happening again, 15+years and no collapses. :)
But it does look like I got bite by a shark on my side haha. That's what I tell my nephews.
