Nonpoint - In the Air Tonight (Origionaly Phill Colins)

This is one of my faves, NP did a really good job of keeping the original element of the Collins version and adding their own particular style around the original sound

edit: while I'm at it:

Turn the Page: Metallica (Original Bob Seger)

Walk this Way: Run DMC (Original Aerosmith), had to include this one because of the impact on the waning poplularity

All Along the Watchtower: Jimi Hendrix (Original Bob Dylan)

A personal fave....

Take On Me: MxPx (Original A-ha)

Kris Kristofferson was a great songwriter, but he didn't play his own songs very well.
Me and Bobbie McGee is a good example. I think the definitive version of it is Roger Miller's. Sunday Morning Coming Down by Johnny Cash is also a good Kristofferson rehash.

Willie Nelson's version of Always on My Mind is good, and more recently Shinedown did a pretty good version of Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
