HempLight?

  1. Anyone heard of these? I remember seeing them awhile back and thinking it'd be awesome to have one, and now @LT is finally selling them. Basically just a case for your lighter that dispenses hemp wick through it.

They offer the Spooly and the Wrapper. The Spooly has a concealed spool that you can just replace with pre-wrapped refills when it runs out (each spool is 3 feet), and uses a mini bic, while the wrapper features an external "spool" you wrap yourself.

I'm wondering two things right now personally:

    1. Instead of paying $12 for refills from *** for every 15 feet you use with the Spooly, can you take out the "pre-wrapped" spool once it's empty and just rewrap that yourself with your own wick?

    2. Does the Wrapper's external spool actually function as a spool and spin (seems unlikely given the shape), or do you have to pull the wick loose from the lighter every time to manually unwrap more?

  2. that company is shady. I have heard bad reviews of them and they originally had a lot of claims on their website that they since took down. Like that they were members of the hemp industry and the better business bureau which was all lies I guess since they took it off their page after people were calling them out on it. they also say they are "the original" dispenser maker when everyone knows its quickwicks and the humbolt dispensers that had them first. if there product is so great, then i dont understand why they would say all that bs

  3. I ended up ordering one off @LT, they're a cool idea but it's kind of a pain to get the wick lit the way it's set up. Prefer just holding the wick in one hand lighter in the other.

  4. yeah I can see that. I dont like wrapping it on my lighter because i heard stories about peoples lighters melting and popping and it also gets lint and stuff on it in my pocket

  5. Thanks for pointing that out!
    gonna try humbolt wick

  6. For the record, I love love love my hemp light. I used the Humboldt wick holders, but, when traveling, the cork would always come out, there was never enough wick in it, or it was a pain to spool it into there neatly and compactly. The Hemplight is easy to use, easy to reload, and most importantly, I don't get the stains and gnarly callouses on my fingers from stamping it out myself. I like the humboldt wick because it's thin and fits well in the Hemplight. I certainly wouldn't pay that much for their refills. That being said, I found the spool one to be too little wick available, and to not hold the mini lighter well at all. I had to wrap the lighter with tape to get it to stay.

The wrap one is awesome and I fail to see how my life was complete before I had it.

I don't work for them, or know anyone, for the record, I just love the product.

  7. lol they aren't even worth it. You have to use the lighter every time you take a hit still. I just wrap my wick around this little pencil sized piece of metal that has rotating grooves in it so I can just wrap like 5 feet around it. Then I just use this big ass candle while I'm smoking to light the hemp wick. Saves even more money on lighters

  8. lol, well, for those of us who leave the house, having a lighter with your wick is pretty handy. And, for the record, when Im at home, I also use a candle, don't actually HAVE to use the lighter lol ;) But, it still provides the BEST way of extinguishing the wick than any other alternative Ive seen.

  9. So as an update I forgot about this thread entirely but I did end up buying one of the reloadable ones to try.

Hated the stock wick, used some BeeLine instead.

It's a cool idea, but really impractical and a pain in the ass when put to use. The appeal to me was being able to light it one handed, but if you want it to burn long enough for a hit you need to use both hands, pull it out and cock it at a weird angle to get it lit.

Ended up being easier just using the full ball of wick.
