looking for a strain with less smell

  1. I am looking for starting next batch from seeds and seeking any advice for a potent-low smell strain.
Can be couch lock or euphoric, really my concern is the smell.
What y'all think of Big Bud?

  2. Northern Lights are considered low odor strains, however from some breeders it can smell quite strong.

Cream Caramel from Sweet Seeds is fairly low odor, smells like mild fruit :smoking:

  3. I must recommend Blue Mystic from nirvana.
Very resinous, high potency, fruity taste and extremely low/mild smell.

  4. I agree. Northern Lights was bred to be a low odor strain.

  5. I hear that c99 is also a fairly low odor strain.

  6. I have grown both Northern Lights and C99, are both are low odor compared to other strains in that they dont have the characteristic skunky smell to them. That said, low odor doesnt mean no odor, and i would never attempt to grow either without a proper carbon filter.

When i see people looking for low odor strains, its usually because they are considering rolling without a proper filter, which is not recommended. Even low odor strains can produce stinky phenotypes, and although both the NL and C99 didnt smell strongly of skunk, they both gave off distinctive odors that most would recognize as weed. The NL was sweet and slightly musky, while the c99 reeked of pineapple.

My advice: Get a proper fan and filter as you will need them anyway. Then you can grow any strain you like with little worry. Strain selection is not a proper method of odor control.

    Good luck!

  7. I would also like to strongly recommend the C99.....amazing smell, taste and uplifting high. Im about to smoke a little Female Seeds c99 with my morning coffee, best all-around wake and bake smoke ive yet to encounter.

  8. I dunno about you but I'm all about whipping out my jar for smell. Filter>low odor

  9. I've read northern lights, ak48, and blue mystic from Nirvana are low odor. Also LA confidential (hence the confidential).

I've personally grown 2 strains that were extremely low odor. Lowryder #2 and Sensi Seeds Ruderalis Indica. The Ruderalis in particular had a nice smell and taste when handled or smoked, but barely ever smelled at all while growing. I've never used odor control, I don't trust it. I just stick with strains that don't smell. That way I know it's never a problem.

  10. Paradise Seeds Wappa photo not the auto had zero smell.

nirvana northern light is not low odour imo.
it starts to stink after 2-3 weeks before its even flowering.

auto seeds auto#1 is low odour, can barely smell it at all so far, its like 1/10 of the smell of every NL I ever grew

I grew 2 big bhudda automatic before without telling my wife with no CF and she didn't suspect anything at all, after I did the northern lights and within 3 weeks she found them XD

Without a CF I wouldn't rely on strains known for low odour actually not stinking out at least the room they are in

  12. My Northern Lights are pretty low smell to be fair. I will buy a filter one day but so far (4 Weeks in) everything is smell free.

  13. Def blue mystic

  14. I'd have to agree, NL from some breeders does stink a fair bit, I guess it depends on the pheno (if growing from seed) however, compared to the psycho crack, Pineapple express and pineapple chunk im running currently it is fairly low odor.

  15. Ruderalis

I have a good cut of Fire OG that has lost its lemon pledge scent somewhere along all these years cloning. I guess it mutated or something.

some phenos of northern lights dont smell at all, just a sugary sweetness.
white rhino is low odor, as well as hash plant, and some original afghani.

  16. I have some Northern Lights going, while it is the least smelling strain I have it still gives off a strong fragrence...not skunky just...good lol

  17. I know this probably doesn't help but I started some bagseed a while back and I got 1 that is the absolute least smelling plant I have ever seen. I mean you can put your face right in the plant and get nothing. Smells just like a regular old houseplant. The only other thing I can really tell you about it is that it appears to be either 100% indica or very very indica dominate. So you can get luck from bagseed if you germ enough at one time you may get one like that also.

  18. i have grown C99 from seed then from cutting for about 6 grows   dont smell at all till you harvest.... then smells like cat piss when you get it over you   has heaps of crystals over it     and is a pretty good puff as well   have not heard any of my mates say negitave things about it

  19. I was iffy about northern lights because they did advertise to be a bit skunky. Check my current grow as I've tried to pick out low odor strains as well. I like to complain, so if I manage to keep them alive up to budding, you'll be sure I'll be throwing a hissy fit if there's a strong smell.

I know some strain libraries let you organize and search by smell or flavor. I tried to avoid skunky and go with fruity stuff.

  20. I wouldn't worry about how strong the smell is as much as what it smells like, I use to have a mother that you could smell a mile away and when I moved into my new place knew it had to go so I looked around an found a lemon strain that was great. House smelled like I poured pledge into the carpet, had theland Londoner for a BBQ an even got a complement on how clean the house looked an smelled lol.
