So, how bad is the rib cage/side?

  1. I'll be honest--I do not like the actual process of getting tattooed. I enjoy good art, and I like the idea of using my body as a canvas of sorts. But I don't like the feeling of a needle jabbing me repeatedly.

I've only been drilled for about 4 hours so far, and that was all on my thigh. The next piece I'd like would cover my whole side, from the rib cage to the waste. And I'm a really lean dude. I'm just imagining that going over my rib cage would be really fucking painful... :( does cannabis help at all with getting tattoos? Perhaps a tincture?

  2. I go into my session sober. I went in stoned before and after the first line, my buzz was gone. Ribs suck but you have to focus on something else. My artist and I enjoy the same music so he has no problem cranking up the tunes. If I could start over I would work on my arms before my body.

  3. Arms are my last priority. Legs, side(s?), chest, and back first. :)

I'd probably go to the same artist who did my thigh, and he just played movies which definitely did help to keep me distracted. That's a good point... I just always hear people say how bad side tattoos are. But on the other hand, you search google images for side tattoos and most of the pictures are of girls skinnier than me! So, I suppose I can handle it. Time to start saving some $$$. :)

  4. I'm 5'10 and 135, so I'm super skinny

My first tat was on my ribs. It's not bad if the artist has a light hand and you're distracted

  5. ribs arent too bad, i did mine and im real skinny. just got my pec done and that was equal or a little less than the ribs. The collar bone hurt

  6. I dont weed help at all.. If anything I think it makes it hurt more in a way..
For me.. I just felt everything more cuz I was concentrating more on it but tryin not to concentrate on it..it sucks but it doesnt stop me from waitin more tatts..

I also want a side piece but after watchin a Marine get his tatted n was in tears n cant get up the nerves to go thru it.. Cuz im not gonna want some small.. Imma want a whole piece possibly goin towards my back

  7. I talked to a friend who recently got ink on his side, he said it was the most painful thing he's done (and he was a marine as well). His is smaller than what I wanted too. Meh, I'll suck it up. :(

  8. I have a medium sized tattoo on my side, and the small part of it thats on my last few ribs hurt like hell, nothing unbearable though..the rest of the side not bad at all tho lol and im like 5'9 145

  9. On the real 20 minutes ago I got a ribcage tat and it was the most painful tattoo I ever got I got six, two chest peices, neck peice, two arm peices and this ribcage one. This one fucking stung it took 5 hours so that might be why it got so bad..but the pain is tempoary the ink lasts :) so if you want it go for it

thats the one I got on my ribcage

  10. My first and so far only tat is on my rib cage. I've got a pretty high pain tolerance (sat through a dozen piercings in an area the size of a baseball, for example), and it was painful. The outline wasn't bad, but the shading I could feel through my whole back, like in areas that weren't being tattooed, which was odd. So worth it though. Side tats are beautiful. I'd smoke after if I were you. Bring a couple friends (assuming your shop is cool with it). Mine helped distract me, we talked the whole time.

  11. Ugh my ribs were absolutely terrible!! We got through it in two sessions but that was only the outline, and I'm tio chicken to get it finished!

    Buds, beaches, and bootys <3

  12. Lol my artist says he has done outlines and only outlines on so many people. I just had to grind my teeth and sit there for five hours haha :p. I would say that is the wrost area im ever gonna get haha.

  13. my ribs took around 2 hours and it didnt bother me too much. I dont think it was as bad as my foot or when it went right by my nipple on the chest. and collar bone wasnt fun.

  14. It hurts but after a while the endorphins will start flowing in and becomes a nice experience (for me anyways)
I have to get mine redone cause the flow sucks, Im fucking stoked.

Yeah I don't recommend it. I love mine but had I known the pain I was in for I wouldn't have done it

You gotta get that finished, it would look so bad ass colored in

  18. First tattoo was my rib cage 3.5 hours.... fucking killed but it has made every tattoo after that so pain free

  19. I had a 3 - 4 hour tat on my ribs, and to be honest it wasn't bad at all. I just stared into the light and talked to the artist.

  20. its only REALLY bad if you try to do marathon sessions. Break it down to 2 hour sessions if the artist is local.
I started on my ribs after I had already gotten lots of work which I think helps tons. there are certain spots that really suck but for the most part it is tolerable.
The little skinny guys always can take the pain, the big meathead tough guy is always the first to cry lol.
