A Song of Ice and Fire discussion *ALL SPOILERS*

Discussion in 'The Bookshelf' started by StuGrimson23, Feb 10, 2013.

  1. I know there are already threads on the series, but this is where you can discuss anything, all spoilers INCLUDING EXCERPTS FROM THE WINDS OF WINTER. Any predictions, theories, questions about the books and TV show are open to discussion. If you haven't read all the books and excerpts, you might not want to read further.

With that being said, in the TV series thread, it was mentioned when season 3 would end. Since it's half of Storm of Swords, I think the season will end at the Red Wedding. I'm not sure if it will end with a sword going through Rob Stark's back or with Grey Wind's head on Rob's Torso.

I'd say season 4 ends obviously with Tyrion killing Tywin. Tyrion's trial by combat should be awesome with the Red Viper vs The Mountain.

  2. Yeah S3 will surly end with the red wedding, the last scene could possibly be Arya and The Hound escaping though.

I was reading a really interesting theory on Jon Snow today I though was pretty cool. When he was stabbed I as like NO! WHAAT!? lol
A Dance With Dragons - SPOILERS *Jon Snow's Fate* (showing 1-50 of 237)

Season 4 could have zombie Cat as the last scene too maybe. Cant wait to see how the make her look.

  3. Interesting read.

I never noticed his wounds were described as smoking.

I think the part of the series that really shocked me was when Stannis' knights came smashing through the woods to smash the Wildling host. I thought that was very cool and didn't see that coming at all.

  4. I reread the red wedding scene about 4 times before I accepted what was happening. Fans of the show who haven't read the books are gonna be pissssssssssssed at the end of this season.

  5. Yes they will. I can't wait to see how Walder Frey meets his demise. Maybe a little faceless assassin will visit him.

I think everyone that is into the series and TV show should watch the episodes on HBOGO with the add features and commentary. GRRM tells how anyone can die at any time and not to always look for the "storybook ending". Tons of interesting tidbits.

  6. Cool, I'll have to check that out.

And yeah, I'd love to see Arya go on a rampage once she's fully trained. GRRM probably won't give us that kind of wish-fulfillment though. The way karma works in the books, Walder Frey will die in his bed with a belly full of wine and a girl's mouth around his cock

  7. I read a theory that Tywin would have died slowly if Tyrion hadn't put a bolt in his gut. He was poisoned by the Red Viper, thus the way his corpse stank.
The Red Viper ultimately wanted Tywin dead and wouldn't have risked missing his chance, had he lost his fight with The Mountain.

Speaking of The Mountain, I'm really looking forward to reading about Ser Robert Strong. I'm happy Qyburn is still around.

  8. That's an interesting theory...who in here believes the whole Jon is the son of Rhaegar, and Lyanna Stark?

  9. Interesting indeed. Where when an how did Oberon manage to poison Tywin?

In regards to Lord Snow I figured his wound was steaming due to the cold at the Wall.

  10. I can't wait for George R.R Martin's description of Skagos when Davos goes there looking for Rickon...from what I've read Skagos is a crazy place...with unicorns and shit.

  11. I do. I would love to read a Howland Reed chapter.

I thought Oberyn was in Kings Landing days before Joff's wedding. I think he sat right next to Tywin during Tyrions trial. He would have had plenty of opportunities to slip something into a drink or food. We'll only know if he mentioned his plan to Doran or a Sand Snake.

  12. And cannibals. I wonder if Davos will bring him back.

  13. Also do you guys think it's possible for someone like Bran to warg into a dragon?

  14. I think it's possible. GRRM could have him laying waste to any army of Others with Drogon, the possible reincarnation of Balerion the Black Dread.

I have a feeling Winds of Winter won't be released until 2015, I hope I'm wrong.

Me too, I am sick of waiting I've pretty much been just waiting since I finished A Dance with Dragons.

Yeah...that would be awesome. I hope to see Bran take over a dragon, the three eyed crow did say he would fly. Speaking of the three eyed crow who thinks the three eyed crow is Bloodraven?

Also who do you think Coldhands is? Benjen? I thought that to that COTF said he died long ago.

  16. I do think the 3 eyed crow is Bloodraven, not quite as sure about Coldhands beng Benjen anymore.

  17. I would think a dragon would be easier than a human...it seems like Bran can warg into anything at this point, especially with the three-eyed crow's help.

And I think the three-eyed crow is definitely Bloodraven. I never read the Dunk and Egg books but apparently there are details in there that really specifically point to it.

  18. I read the Dunk and Egg books. Bloodraven in them is this sort of a enigmatic character...he's like Varys...you only see him in person like one time, and even then not long. For some reason...and I know people like Daenaerys. I just want to see her react if a warg..Bran probably hijacks one of her dragons. How many eyes does Lord Bloodraven have? A thousand eyes and one.

  19. What are the Dunk and Egg books? I am intrigued, please enlighten me.

  20. Ser Duncan the Tall was a lord commander of the Kingsguard like 100 years before the start of the series. He became Lord Commander because on a way to a tourney he just so happened to meet a Targereyen Prince, Prince Aegon. He doesn't know that the kids a prince because he kept his head shaved to hide his traditional Taragareyen features.

He proved himself a valiant knight, impressing the prince and the prince decides his wants to squire for him. His father agreed because he thought his son squiring for a humble hedge knight would teach him humility. The Dunk and Egg books are simply short stories about the various adventures Duncan and Prince Aegon aka Egg get into during their travels. Eventually that Prince became King Aegon the Unlikely, and when he became king he made Duncan a knight of the kingsguard....and he eventually became the lord commander.
