How to open a dispensary in California?

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by walterego, Jan 5, 2013.

  1. Hey guys,
For a while now I have been thinking of opening a dispensary here in California. I am a life long resident here, and know that laws vary per county and city. I know some places have an all out ban on them... But here in the bay area, they are still popping up like mad.

But I am curious what exactly is required to open a dispensary. Some questions that come to mind:

1- Is there a specific permit that is required for a dispensary?
2- If so, are these permits still being issued, or difficult to obtain?
3- What sort of legal help from a lawyer is required?

From my understanding, the business has to be setup as a non-profit. What else is required besides that? I think finding a landlord that will allow it would potentially be the biggest hurdle. But again, based on the number of them that I see, it seems this is technically possible.

Are there any resources online that have information about this? All i have seen are Oaksterdam ($700 for 4 days) or 420college.org ($250 for 2 days). But 420college says you will walk away with all the paperwork you need to start a dispensary... which means it cant be all that difficult!

Any help or advice with all this would be greatly appreciated!! :D :) Would love to hear from experienced peeps, or peeps in the know!

    THANKS! :)

  2. that $250 charge from 420college.org is for a seminar with an attorney. It's not all that difficult but you need to know what's legal and what's not. There is allot contradicting information online, that's why I would suggest that you attend a seminar to learn all the ins n outs of the game.

  3. Hi!

How's it going with your plan to open a dispensary in California? It just so happened that my partners, family, and I own 6 dispensaries in California, Colorado, and DC. So, I'm still wondering if you are still interested to open a dispensary? I may be able to help you. :) Just send me an email at info@thedispensaryexperts.com and we'll talk about it.

    Have a good day! :)
