Thats great Mama! I'm super happy that it has helped you. :)

  4. For anyone that would like to try a more advanced recipe for the salve.. you can give this one a try. Came from an old school grower that has been making this stuff for his wife for quite some time.

    "My salve recipe

    1/2 cup virgin olive oil
    1 cup coconut oil

    1 oz dry calendula flowers
    1 oz dry lavender flowers
    1 oz powdered comfrey root
    1 oz st. johns wart
2 grams keif/hash or 1/2 oz bud trim.

    2 oz bees wax (shaved/pastelles)

In a 2 qt sauce pan:

Add oils and warm to 160-180F
Best to use a cook thermometer.
As in canna-butter, heat kills the medicine.
Can use a good hot plate instead of stove.

Add all dry ingredients and seep for 2 hrs at 160-180F
    stir occasionally (every 5 min)

After 2 hrs, it's time to press.
    Use clean linen to squeeze/press.
Everyone has old pillow cases for this.
Use a good spatula to scrape the pan clean.
You will be re-using pan, don't wash.

I use a press, and recover 99% of my oils.
    Hand squeezing only recovers 75%.
That last 24% is your best and highest concentrate of botanicals.
Worth the cost of a good press.
Link below on a press that is rust free and lasts a lifetime.

After pressing, you will end up with clean oil.
Put oil back into pan and reheat to 160-180F
Add bees wax and stir till melted.

Pour salve into a clean container or leave in pan, cover, and let sit at room temp over night.
Salve should be the consistency of room temperature butter.
It should melt to the touch.
If you need it stiffer, remelt, add more bees wax, repeat cooling process.

Below is a link to where I buy all my botanicals.
They carry the freshest herbs on the west coast.
    Excellent service, quality.

My wife uses this salve multiple times a day.
Every morning, after use, she says "thank god for that salve"

This is real medicine and works better than pills for pain."

  5. I'm going to try this recipe! Thanks for posting it

  6. Hey guys im here once again with another question about the recipe....now i was wondering if i used double the amount of oil but the same amount of weed and just let it simmer for a little while longer...do you think it would still have a good effect and end up with just more salve in the end?

  7. If he started with really clear butter he may be able to make it.

It Just has to be clarified. It will last longer than butter but who knows how long it will keep.

Maybe u can keep it in a semi cool environment maybe that helps.

    Good luck

  8. Thoroughly clarified butter will keep for months at room temp.

    Twas Ever Thus!

  9. Anyone know if decarbing the herb would be beneficial?

  10. Hey Tree dogg, not the expert here, but from some expert links Ironhead posted earlier in this thread & some follow ups with Psychedelic Sam, I believe the heating process from the simmering cycle DOES decarb the herb, without the oven step. Too much heat, or too high, can actually deactivate the beneficial ingredients. And another convo or link in here stated you don't need to decarb if using for topical treatment only. Stihmata had tried the low slow simmer approach and he thought it was his best yet.

  11. Tree dog
I shared your recipe on PSams tinture page
Its very close to a method I too have used
I like the addition of the Oiive oil as well as.
    1 oz dry calendula flowers
    1 oz dry lavender flowers
    1 oz powdered comfrey root
    1 oz st. johns wart
I have found that the crockpot on low for approx 16hrs yeilded the best so far as Olde dog already said
    Thanks
Pain sucks......................... any relief is greatly appreciated
    Stih

Thanks, just to be clear this is a quote form Iron, I think the recipe is from SG1 if 'm not mistaken.
Gathering ingredients for this now.  Anyone have an opinion/info on Vit E, Tea Tree oil, or Cinnamon, or Shea butter as they relate to topical  ointments?

  13. Yes it is!!  Lecithin too!!
