BioDiesel Mass / Berry Ryder 400W Tent Grow - X-MAS BUD

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by albertahigh, Nov 12, 2012.

  1. Hey GC, been too long since my last grow so I had to order some new seeds and get crackin' again.

Bought myself 2 fem BioDieselMass, 2 fem Haze Mist (Advanced Seeds), 5 fem Berry Ryder (Auto Seeds), and got a couple freebies from Attitude. I figured I would give the auto's one last go before I step it up with the regular photoperiod seeds. A BioDiesel Mass and a Berry Ryder were germinated on the 8th of November, put into soil on the 10th, and broke ground this morning (11th).

I am still using the same 4'9''x4'9''x6'7'' grow tent with a 400W MH/HPS (switchable ballast) cool tube fixture. There is a 440CFM 6'' Can Fan with a ODORSOK carbon filter. I am still missing a small clip on oscillating fan, so I am forced to use a oscillating tower fan. I also have a humidifier incase i need to bump up my RH.

I plan on a 24/0 light schedule, maybe bringing it down a bit in late flower. The tent is in my basement and it's winter so I am hoping to bring out some purp from the Berry Ryder by dropping the temps. I am thinking realistically these plants should finish by the second week of January if all goes well.

I am growing them in MG potting soil. I know, I know, everyone hates it, but FF seems to be impossible to get up in the north, and I couldn't get my hands on any organic. I understand the possible issues that may arise due to this soil, and the best I can do now is hope nothing too drastic happens. Ill keep my eyes on them, and transplant if absolutely necessary. I have GH bottle nutes, but this is the hottest soil I have used yet, so I am not sure I will be able to use them this go around. They are in their final 5 gallon pots, sitting over a foot away from the light until they get a little larger.

Ok, that just about covers anything that I can think of. Any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to hit me up. If anyone just wants to drop by and say hi or watch the growth, your more than welcome too. I am going to try to update this grow at minimum every 3 or 4 days, depending on whats happening with my girls.

Alright I'll shut up and give you some pics.:D

Nice,I will sub along!..don't feel bad,i use mg garden soil mixed with mg potting soil..50/50 of each.It will work fine...I know e1 hates it.but its the cheap way to go.

  3. nice tent and air circulation system. those babies should be going off in no time big dog, i'll be watching !

  4. Thx for hopping in meigsgold. Ya MG is just the easier way to go sometimes, whether it is price or availability. I'm sure I'll be fine...

thx for taking a look dubtug, hoping they are my best grow yet!

I would like to think that an ounce dry off each plant shouldn't be too much to ask for. That is generally what I have gotten off of my previous Lowgirl Auto's (Advanced Seeds). And pretty much every grow I have chopped just a bit too early.

  6. OP, you do realize that you can have fox farm soil shipped right to your door right? That's what I have to do. I can get a 1 cubic foot bag for 50$ shipped, little spendy but whatever. Just search it on eBay and you'd be suprizesd how many pop up

  7. sub'd for sure. looks like your berry ryder sprout had the same issue as mine with the seed shell kinda getting stuck. Must be the strain. looks good though man. nice tent setup, you'll be filling that space up soon enough.

Ever think about going on ebay and buying some foxfarm soil off there? I live in ontario so I can only get my hand on pre mixed soils, coco soil, and promix soil.
I don't know much about soil so I just went with the promix, that's pretty much all they had for soil. Whatever works i guess lol. 25-30$ for soil is decent.

  8. I know I could get everything I need delivered, and I have had some conspicuous gear sent to me in the past, but I just try to minimize the amount of grow materials shipped to my house. It's unjustified paranoia, considering I have had seeds, lights, tent, etc, shipped here, but I haven't been able to take that next (personal) leap to order dirt to the door. Tell you what, my next grow I will order some proper dirt and I'll have you and Chronic to thank for the results! Appreciate you stopping by motoxer.

Nice to see another Hoser in here eh, I live a few provinces west of you. Glad to have you along. I checked on the Berry Ryder this morning and was happy to see it broke free from its shell and is looking strong. Hopefully things keep progressing and I can get some updated pics in the next couple days.

Strongly considering LST'ing one of these girls. What does anyone think of this for an auto? I've heard mixed feelings on this, but I'm guessing as long as it is done right (LOW STRESS), it shouldn't stunt the growth enough to negatively effect yield? Let me know what you guys think.

  9. Experiment with one,and see how you like it.Experimenting is what we are all about. Its your grow,so try it.
If you like the results,cool,..if not..you have the experience anyway.

  10. All my friends live out west. Grande Prarie. A few work on the oil patch some for FedEX, So if you were to be sent soil I'm sure my buddies can descreetly send some soil to ya. lol

I tried some lst when my sprouts were young. If I could go back, I would stop myself from doing it. I believe now that all the energy it takes the autos to turn over to the light... you know what I mean by that? Like when you fold them over, they turn to face the light. All that energy spent to turn over could be spent stretching or forming new leaves. This is a fast grow, let them go free dude. When they get big enough you can tie back the branches. That would be the best form of LST for autos.

When mine got bigger I re-set the main stem to grow straight up, so my lst at the beginning was a waste. Take it from me man, unless your doing it purely for fun, then I would say do something crazy like a spiral all the way around your pot. lol. That would be sick.

  11. Sry for posting again AlbertaHigh, i just noticed you put X-mas bud in your title, That's partly why i'm growing now too. lol. My bday is close to when I'm harvesting in December, so its a birthday / x mas gift to myself. Woot! Good ol Saint Nick knows what I want. ;) Leave a dubie on the table in an ash tray by my christmas tree. lol

    Peace!

  12. looking good, im interested in the BD Mass. Nice grow set up. Looks like you know whats up.

  13. Hey meigsgold, you are right there, it would be nice to have the experience to know if they produce better. I do enjoy experiments, but because it tends to be multiple months between the times I am allowed to grow (wife ), I am not sure it is worth the possible sacrifice of yield. Still weighing options, but I do appreciate the input tho.

Ya I'm sure that I'm not the only one in this neck of the woods that enjoys this hobby anyway, lol. As you can see I'm still undecided about the LST. It might be better to train a regular plant where you have more time for vegging and whatnot. Like I said to meigsgold up there, I want to do a little more research into it. I still have a little time to decide anyway.

I wish my harvest would be closer like yours. Not much of a better birthday or Christmas present to yourself than some dank buds. I think I'm working over Christmas anyway so mine should finish at a perfect time for me.

Thx, teapot. I cant wait to see what both of these girls do, but I think I am slightly more excited about the BioDiesel. Appreciate the compliment. Sometimes I'm not sure if I am doing things correctly or whatever, but from the time I've spent perusing these forums I figure I'm not too far off. ..:confused_2:

If it wasn't clear before, if anyone sees something that I am doing wrong, or wants to give any advice or input, I am definitely willing to listen and change things up. This is only my 7th & 8th plant I have ever grown (5 auto's), so as much as I think I may know, I still have a lot to learn!

FYI - Stay tuned for some updated pics tomorrow. Not much change but the seedlings are getting bigger everyday. Back are the days when I spend hours in a tent in my basement staring at my favourite plant in the world!:smoking:

  14. Really,it would not hurt your yield very much,if any..just lean it over as it grows.I wouldn't get severe and super-crop it.Just a little training.

  15. I'm with you there. Wait to last man. That's what I'm going to Do next grow. Plus plant those beauties in their final pot, I know you've already planted, that's what I've been reading all over, something to change up next grow for me too. More yeild ;) .

    Keep up the good work

  16. Subd need to get back into the city. Looking fwd to your run bro. Good karma for you bro..... peace Gix

  17. You guys with the peer pressure, sheesh, lol. I'd say it will be a game time decision to LST or not. When they get to be "that age", I will figure out which one I will train, and go from there. I'm thinking if I do train one it will probably be the Berry Ryder because I would really like to just let the BDM grow naturally to get a feel for the strain. Still have some days to figure this all out anyway.

Great to have you guys along! Any and all input is welcome. :smoking:

Little update coming up right away.
