Need a fast answer. Cannabutter crockpot help

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by fpop2k11, Oct 30, 2012.

  1. Can i use the crockpot method with just 1/2 pound of butter the recipe calls for a full pound but i want stronger edibles will the thc burn with less butter?

  2. lol the potency would be determined by the amount of cannabis in the butter, not the amount of butter in the recipe

how much bud are you putting in a half lb of butter?

In a crockpot? Im worried about the little amount of butter getting to hot during the long simmer time and degrading thc

I'm not sure what methods they use, but I use the crockpot. Keep it on low/warm depending on the power of yours. I cook mine for 8-12 hours.

  7. thats a bit excessive lol... i doubt a stick of butter can even fully absorb the cannabinoids of an oz of weed.... unless its schwag or something

for generic edibles (if im not trying to explode my head) i do an oz per lb, but i only use it in recipes requiring an lb of butter.....

if i want my head exploded i do 2 oz's per lb of butter....

if the recipe calls for an lb, and you dont use it, its not going to come out right in terms of the culinary side lol.... you may want to just half the entire recipe and go that way if you can

  8. Ive herd of people doing 1 hr high with butter and a little water until butter melts add bud then simmer on low for 3 hours u think this wud work

I'll agree, that is excessive. If I personally use an oz per stick it is at least going to be abv. Fresh herb obviously requires less.

Too much room for error imo. If you're new to it I suggest sticking to a basic recipe until you've got it down.

  11. yea, or if its shwag obviously haha

round here the options are high mids, or dank... or trim

so i use either high mids, or if a cheap dank hook comes up (less than 150 an oz, which is the norm) ill use that if i feel like making edibles hahaha

Do u add water at all to avoid burning and seperate it after the butter solidifys

  13. waters presence makes the mixture unable to reach a temp above 212F until the water boils off (coincidentally thats the decarboxylation temperature)

there is absolutely no need to do it on high, for an hour...

you want low and slow... imagine you are cold smoking a turkey or something... you know if you hot smoke it for a few hours, it wont be as good as a cold smoke for 12 hours

bad comparison, but you still want it low and slow

Word so low or warm? And how long. when i do a pork roast i put it on warm and its perfect in 12 hours also how often do i need to stir the mixture

  15. lol dont use meat to compare it, that was a terrible comparison since this isnt cooking its more extracting lol

but... ive run butter from 6-24 hours before.... the longer, the lower i set the pot... and i stir it just every so often when i remember, not a huge issue when long cooking on lower temps since the butter, shouldnt burn if its low enough
