I use Canna Coco and have for a while. I used to use it all the way through flower. but I have started to only give it to my vegging plants. Seems great so far. It never hurt anything to use it in flower , I just got lazy/cheap. Check out my grow if you want to see what I do with Canna
That depends. Canna Coco A+B lacks iron from its base solution. Without iron already in the tap water then the plants have no access to this necessary element. This deficiency results in reduced vigor and yellow new growth at the top of the plant and is easy to spot. While not required in extremely high volumes (4-12ppm is enough) it is still an important element to include in hydroponics. As I understand it, Canna expects the water used to mix the solution to have an average EC of about .250. If the water being used is soft, or filtered, then using a micro supplement that contains chelated iron will replace the missing hardness. Botanicare's Cal-Mag Plus is a common additive used in America, but really anything would work as long as it contained iron. Seaweed supplements will contain iron but the risk with them is that they will also contain high levels of less desirable cations like sodium, so you don't want to over use them in coco. 2ml per gallon of Cal-Mag Plus per gallon of soft water >.100ec. Or up to 3ml per gallon for RO filtered water during Veg. If the plants need more Calcium then use more A+B (it has 4.5% of the stuff) and if they need Magnesium I suggest cutting back on the feed strength and running 1/8tsp of Epsom Salt. Canna is a great system. There are a lot of ways to utilize the Canna program, and I recommend to you to give them an honest run and follow their feeding guide. Once you get an idea of what you get with their lineup then it is a good idea to consider adding, removing, or replacing things. I find it to be a little unbalanced for flowering Cannabis though and I choose to replace their Cannazym, PK 13/14, and CannaBoost with less expensive and more effective Hydroplex, Big Bud dry, and Uncle John's Blend for a more potassium dominant solution. I also replace Rhizotonic with the kelp supplement BioWeed and include a silicon supplement Pro-Tekt. And having a $10 bottle of Cal-Mag Plus around if I need an ml or 2 doesn't hurt anything.
I used Coco Coir on this last grow. At first my plants starting turning a pale color. I started adding MagCal, and the problem went away. So, I would suggest it.
I use cal/mag with my coco because I use RO water. If you don't use RO water then you might not need it. I think thats what SCMC is saying too.
Anyone use CAL/MAG if so how much? I probably shouldn't use the direction on the lable then if im using canna?

if you using tap water that is at least 1-200ppm, you may not need it if you using RO water, i suggest using at least 3ml/gallon ca/mg i only say "suggest" because i personally had to use 3ml to get my RO water up to around 200ppm to start with canna assumes customers are using tap water w/ at least a 200ppm starting point. much of that being made up of ca and mg
Same here. I start out with: 1) 1 tsp of Pro-tekt. Shake 2) 1 tsp of MagCal 3) Sensizym. Week 1 Flowering 20 ml, then raise dosage weekly according to Adv Nut chart. shake 4) Big bud. Look at chart for dosage. 5) Connoisseur A&B. Again, refer to adv nut chart for proper feeding. Shake. Mixing it this way. I always get the same PH reading, 6.5.

Ya know I have only spent about 50 bucks on all the nutes that I have used for over a year and a half worth of growing. General Hydroponics for the win!

So far both have proved true. I am growing huge plants in less than 2 gallons of coco. I bet I will meet my average yield as well. My growth seems to have improved since I switched my ph also. Not to mention less adjusting it. I don't advise everyone to jump on board with me , let me give a definitive.

I can't get a good yield out of a smart pot smaller than 5 gallons. Even my heavy yielding plants don't get over 3 zips... With an 80 day veg.. I can pull 5-6 off the same plant, same veg time, but in a larger pot like a 5 or 7 gal. I think anywhere in the range of 5.8-6.2 is ok for coco. So 6.0 might be a bit more in the middle, but I always ph to right around 6.0 too. It would appear if you adjust the ph according to the time of the plants cycle they seem to grow better..like start off in veg at 5.8 and as they mature and flower out, slowly raise the ph to 6.0-6.2. I'm using this Greenlite soil in my sippa and I'm ph'ing my tap water to 6.0 and getting above fantastic results. I think you should try out a sippa with coco and nutes.. It is great cause they never dry all the way out and it seriously couldnt be easier to make. The growth is amazing dude.. It's not just for organic plants. That's for sure!

That's for sure![/quote] Yeah I have thought about a sip, but I tried a hempy bucket and the growth was so fast and big my room couldn't handle it lol. They got to big for my small room and perpetual style. I am not sure if its gonna work yet , but these 3 gallon pots I am using 2/3 full, seem to be producing as big of plants as I was getting in 5 gallon pots. Fat colas and all. I normally get between 3-5 zips in my usual 5 gallon pots, and these 3 I have going look as they will easily fall in that range.

Are you using just 100% coco or the coco/perlite 50/50 ratio to get the bigger plants in smaller containers? And you are using smart pots right?
