One of my favorite things about the glass pipe art movement is the ability that artists have to captivate and inspire their audiences. By being able to use new themes and old themes glass artists are unique in the way that they can make something exciting and intriguing for the viewer but with relevance that they can relate to. These collaborations between Vela G. and Little B. do just that, taking a celebrated theme and turning it on it's head with interesting vessel shapes, color technique and imagery.

The first thing that grabs your attention are the brilliantly colored stencils based off of everyone's favorite Sci-Fi saga STAR WARS. Featuring iconic imagery like CP30, Boba Fett, the AT-AT, R2D2, as well as a host of space ships and symbols from the movie. Little B achieves this finish by using colors that "strike" on the surface when activated by the flame turning the color from a carmel/tannish hue to a dark blue, only the glass below the surface is unchanged. Then by sandblasting the stencil and breaking through the top dark layer of glass the carmel/tannish is revealed.

Vela G's signature style is showcased in the very detailed and accurate "incalmo" techniques. By using the incalmo technique Vela can create an effect of supreme symmetry with the use of his thinly colored sections throughout the piece. A vert meticulous and detailed process few are able to achieve this level of symmetry in every piece. Making Vela G's style that more iconic.

  2. Love the star wars theme. That smaller rig is so sick! Little B. has some serious talent and i was already well aware of Vela G's awesome work. Vela's "incalmo" as you called it, is so subtle that i almost feel you have to hold and see his work in person and uplcose to truely appreciate it. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Vela and Little B are such bosses man nice write!

  4. I honestly can't see what's so dope about the incalmo. Looks like simple circles To me

  5. It's a simple tech that's hard to master. There's not really anything "special" about it, but the way he does it is super clean

  6. oh yea very clean

  7. I believe Vela calls them lip wraps. It is extremely difficult to get them uniform and correctly shaped out to look appealing. If one of those was off, you would know it right away and not be able to notice anything else.

Its interesting to me that the blasting is Lil B's, it looks very similar to many stencils that DWRECK uses in his blasting. The wine footed traveler came out dope! but I'm a fan of R2D2. Also curious if these went as a set or separated?

  8. That Imperial bong is one of the sickest pieces I've seen. Boba, AT-AT's and a storm trooper, all really amazing work.

  9. Awesome man

  10. Such amazing pieces!

  11. I can't believe I own the Dome rig... So nice :)

  13. I'm loving the millennium falcon piece!!Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Grasscity Forum mobile app

  14. Ive always loved star wars, and would love to have one of these pieces.

  15. That's beautiful. But I'm still waiting on a bong shaped like slave Princess Leia.

  16. These are sick, I kinda want a custom star wars theme bong but he used the wrong emblems on each one. other than that they are killer but that would drive me nuts, Empire C-3PO R2D2 lol.

  17. I honestly can't see what's so dope about the incalmo. Looks like simple circles To me
