TIMBER!! First Lady Chopped 2006

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by Spanishfly, Sep 3, 2006.

  1. First lady down 2006, here she is hanging in my shed. (Please excuse my collection of Victorian porn hanging behind her.) She is just about ready, about a quarter of the trichomes are amber. She should be dried enough for manicuring in about 5 to 7 days. This girl is number2 of those that showed sex in growing order.

  9. dude, the trichs don't turn amber, it's the hairs, and they should be 3/4 amber for highest thc %. unless you have a mag glass, then it's when the head on the trich's turn's a milky opaque colour. trichomes are the crystals.

  10. I've seen trichomes turn amber..

  11. I've seen trichomes turn amber..

  12. your right, very rare strains can, also some rare strains can turn orange, or even black, but this is out of the question.

  13. This jonster is still spouting his rubbish, I see, that is why he remains firmly on my ignore list.

Trichomes, which are NOT crystalline in any shape or form, are structures on the bud and bud leaves which contain the THC and other active ingredients - there are in fact several distinct types of trichomes.

As the plant matures the trichomes turn from clear to cloudy to amber. As this happens the high produced on using the plant goes from a more cerebral high to a couchlock high. You chop your plant when the colour of the trichomes matches your wishes - I chop mine when the trichomes are about one third amber.

The hairs darken as the plant matures, but this is by no means as good an indication of characteristics.

  14. Nice spanishfly GLAD everything turned out for you. Sorry jon but there right ALL my strains the trichs turn amberr at peak maturety. If you have never experianced this then you might be cutting down your plants to soon.

Spainsh you Always get nice plants keep up the good work friend!

  15. It's only the 3rd of sept, why so early?

  16. ok but i thought you were thinking the hairs were the trichs and when 1/3 turn amber then harvest, (so i was making the argument that 3/4 hairs turn amber, harvest) in reality you were thinking the trichs were crystals, which is true, therefore it was just a mistake that i never knew the hairs were also called trichs.

yes the crystals will turn milky opaque to amber and it's not really true amber color when it's optimal thc%, it's less intense and lighter amber coloured for the ultimate high.

i took this from a grow site.
Having a small microscope for checking out the trichomes on your live plant is a handy tool to have in your gardening room. What you are looking for is SLIGHTLY AMBER colored liquid filled balls on top of a stalk. If all the trichomes are clear it is too early to pick. When they start to look a little milky they are getting close. One-third amber colored trichomes is what you are seeking in ripe marijuana.

  17. wtf...

  18. Jonster is a fool. I harvest at 25% amber trics as well....unless the strain is major indica then I harvest @ the first amber tric I spot..providing the rest are cloudy

  19. Damn, that's just beautiful.
