I've been thinking about this while listening to him. When you talk about classical music, you bring up brilliant musicians like Mendelssohn, Beethoven..etc. I feel like Priest is raps version of that. The skill at which he raps is amazing. He has the ability to rhyme word combinations and phrases so well they keep in touch with what he's saying. His lyrics are very spiritual and deep and he has incredible usage of imagery. GZA from wutang is considered by many to be one of the best lyricist ever, but even he claimed that Killah Priest was his favorite rapper. He received so much respect from the wu tang that a solo song of his appeared on another person's album--GZA's album Liquid Swords, which is unheard of.

Heavy Mental is one of the most lyrical albums ever.

My bad i mean in the song "hood nursery" by killa priest

  4. what does that have to do with anything?

  5. K Rino more lyrical any day

  6. He is definitely in my top 10 lyricist. This dudes style is really refreshing almost every song has my mind blown. I feel like he keeps getting better with age to.

  7. Listening to his stuff right now. Nah, I don't see it. Killah Priest is the god mc:

  8. No. Id put every wutang memeber before killah priest. and before wutang id put rakim and big l is definitely better

  9. lol based on what? Lyrically killah priest is better than anyone from the wutang. When GZA puts a solo song of yours on his own album you know you're doing something right.

Nah dude look this up and get ready to eat crow

    k rino perpetual ascension[/quote]

Didn't think I'd like him, but damn! He's insanely talented. Can't believe I had never heard of him.

  12. I fail to see how a guy that most people, even hardcore rap listeners, can't understand is better than killah priest.

    Killah Priest is the greastest

Abstract, deep lyrics.. .song about mediation:

Overshadows Nas, one of the greats:

  13. Tell me about the sun, earth, moon, and stars, intergalactic-al metaphors from mars!!

That "Through Milleniums" song just reminds me of something a post-90's Canibus would say. Sure, he's using a lot of complex language, but what the fuck does it all mean? Granted, it's the only song I've heard by him, but when dudes start going off into astronomy in their lines without actually expanding on or contributing to said topics, it ends up being a whole lot of nothing.

Personally, I think Immortal Technique is what all these "Ghetto scholars" should aspire to be. He takes familiar rap concepts and applies a completely new perspective to them.

Here he looks at the war on drugs from the perspective of South American Cocaine manufacturers. He has the first verse on the track...

Here he takes on the Occupy Wall Steet movement by satirically rapping from the perspective of a one-percenter...

  14. ^^ Killah Priest raps from a spiritual, outwordly sense when he talks about the universe..etc. It all relates. All you have to do is open your mind. He's nothing like Canibus.

Through Milleniums is nothing like a Canibus song.

  15. I agree with mole. Immortal is sick. RA the Rugged Man, Vinnie Paz, Esoteric, Biggie(rip), Kool G, Big L(rip), Talib Kweli, Jay Z.

And without a doubt the GZA beats priest...oh yeah and let's not forget Ol' Dirty (rip).

One more...I am an East Coater through and through but Snoop is the shizzle my Nizzle.

  16. You're agreeing with an illogical statement. I don't see how these guys have anything on killah priest.

GZA? haha we can put up verse for verse, Killah Priest is way better than GZA.

Deepness? Killah priest . Listen to One Step, listen to me..etc

Multis? Killah priest easily, as GZA doesn't use many of these.

Imagery? gotta go with preist again. Songs like Clyradims and Brilliantare showcase this.

I feel like you could put up category after category and prove that Priest is better than anyone out there.

I laugh at how dim witted some of you are, passing off Priest's lyrics as astro rambling

  17. He's good...best ever?

Nah man. Give me Asheru, 2pac, biggie, ghostface, Raekwon, Talib....

Respect though, dude has some killer flow and lyrics.

Not trying to start a debate with ya, just givin my 2 cents....
