Musical taste is very subjective. I fail to see how the fact that you want to be Killah Priest's altar boy makes me dim witted. Until you develop some kind of scientific measurement to guage "rap skill" you have no place claiming that you can prove anything about which MC is best, it is a matter of subjective opinion. You would have gotten more of the feedback you are looking for if you had titlrd this thread "Killah Priest Circle Jerk"
I understand it's subjective, but you can also argue your point and provide reasoning for your statements. Scientific measures to judge his greatness? His rhyme scheme is amongst the best, if not the best out there. His ability to rhyme words is top notch. He can put together 6 or more rhyme combinations for a set of words and the rhymes still match the concept he is speaking on. For example, on the song From then till now: Guns shootouts and crack sales Black males who pack jails, trapped in hell No peace, cold streets, surrounded by po-lice this whole week, buildings with no heats No lights, the gas pipes the snow leaks Dog fights and lowlife throw dice the whole night Thieves, creepin in the midnight evenings, saw through the misty regions Go to your house, take a vial for the demons Moon in, the lunar eclipse Prophets stand in the midst of the seven candlesticks I can't take it, beauty that was once sacred is now gettin facelifts, fake tits, and fake lips Cold embraces Memory erases, from the slaveships Not only does he rhyme a lot of words in a small space, but all the rhymes are relevant to his topic. They don't deviate from the topic just to add rhymes. He's also very DEEP, spiritual and conscience. These are all traits important in an artist. Examples of a deep, spiritual song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5b7KmTOC5w Here, he speaks on concepts of life and death and does so with great rhyme scheme and insight. We've seen rappers like Tupac make songs like this, but Killah Priest, to me, does so with greater rhymes and emotion portrayed from his lyrics. Imagery Perhaps his greatest attribute. Killah Priest has been called the alfred hitchcock or rap. He paints very vivid, creative pictures with his words. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipxAc1-0jNU his Flow is one of the best, also. As far as the guy that posted about Immortal Technique, Killah Priest has political songs, also. Here he talks about the increasing role of Big goverment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnXzx7d_ufE I challenge people to put up songs of their favorite rappers and I'm pretty sure I can something that Killah Priest has done similar that showcases more skill.
Dude you are WAY too invested in convincing others that your OPINION is the correct one. No one here has claimed Killah Priest is a whack MC. Kick back, relax, burn one, and rub one out while you listen to all of the greatest rap songs of all time. He is good- Not the greatest. How old are you by the way?
It's not being way too invested. It's just a hip hop discussion. You asked me to be more scientific and specific as to why I think he's the greatest, and I did. If you can't at least match my effort, don't bother to reply. I'm 28, by the way. How old are you?
I am 34, and I concede. Killah Priest is the greatest rapper of all time. I have reviewed your scientific analysis and that kind of raw data is too much to argue. RA's verse isn't spectacular. Before going into the story of getting shot, he's just rambling on some bravado stuff. The lines lack the high level of killah priests rhyme schemes and it sounds like he's just putting together rhymes without actually saying anything mindblowing. Also, for a song that's supposed to be a POV, it's pretty weak as far as the imagery that he gives. " Special OP, Huey chopper gun ship, run shit Gook run when the mini-gun spit, won't miss, kill shit Spit four-thousand bullets a minute Victor Charlie, hit trigger, hit it I'm in it to win it, get it The lieutenant hinted the villain, I've ended up killing I did it, cripple, did it, pictures I painted is vivid, live it" I've been around rap for a long time. Those lyrics are something you'd see someone on the internet that just started out rapping write. A better POV song about a killer is one that Killah Priest has here. Here, the imagery is sharp and he's not rambling words together. Rather, his lines are relevant and contribute to the overal image of the character with sharper precision: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68PgzCIZBuw]Killah Priest - Silent Assassin - YouTube[/ame]
