Terranium Defoliation Micro 'first' Grow

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by GreenWidowSun, Oct 20, 2012.

  1. Hello fellow Blades. I'm so excited I don't know where to begin.. I'm at the beginning of the road here, and looking on, well damn it looks good. So here's some information about my grow (now) and to be-

    Strain: White Widow, feminized

    Grow space: 14"x18"x36"

    Lighting: - for veg, 4 x 26W 6400K CFL Sumbeam 'Full-Spectrum';
-and flower, 4x 23W 2700K Globe 'enersaver' Soft White

Ventilation: 1 computer fan 130 cfm wired to a *store bought, 10$* universal ac/dc adapter. And a hole.

Im using pro-mix and perlite, at about a 50-50 mix right now in the seedling pot, but its going right away into its final home in the 3-gal pot at a ratio of 70-30.

my waters probably gonna be evaporated clean but for now I got a litre of distilled. As for Fertilizer, I've got a box of kind of all purpose 10-10-10 for vegging, and for flowering a box of Tomato fertilizer 6-12-12.
** I'm a little worried that using 10-10-10 ferts is innappropriate as an all purpose vegging nutrient suppliment, even in regular tiny doses, fearing that theres not enough nitrogen for the amount of P - leading to either a lack of N or nute burn from too much P. Any light on the subject would be appreciated, other wise I may find out myself --

So I wrote Defoliation in the title line... I figure that's the technique I'm going to use to try to get the most yield out of my limited space.. My goal in defoliating my plant regularly throughout the vegetative stage is so that the plant may branch out and many more bud sites are created. In flowering I'll keep cutting away at leaves to make sure light gets to most every bud site.

Anyway here's what im all excited about right now: life

Heres to hopin for the best

I'd just like to give a shout out to all of the contributing members of the GC thread: I've learned a lot, and want to try now to pass it on, however I can~

So thats my thread, I'm gonna update about twice a week I guess. Comments, questions, feedback.. are welcome from beginners and gurus alike. cheers

  2. oh wow I could not find this thread at all.. and here it is..... anyway..

Its going swimmingly so far.. putting all this time into training her is really paying off!

here is a pic of her two days ago; Day 20 above ground -- she is very developed and branchy indeed! just about ready for its second pluck

and here is a pic of her this morning, after a pretty intense defoliating

Check the stem on this 22-dayer:

There's so much happening on this stem! branches very compact, and cutting away the leaves allows light to reach these sites that would normally be shady -- creating even more branches and potential budsites!

Watching an mj plant grow from seed to this in just three weeks has been so fun :smoking: ;)

  3. Update! 12 days have passed - and with proper training, she's bushed out a lot, and hasn't gained anything in vertical growth!
On the hunt... for the biggest yield.. in the smallest space

In 12 days, she had enough time to grow enough leaf that I decided to defoliate again, and LST all the branches down horizonal, to promote bushiness. As you can see she's already fully recovered:

The plant is about 1ft x 1ft, with a height of under 6"! Wicked compact.

Thinking about doing a scrog (once I set into flower), to keep the distance between the highest and lowest points on the buds as close as possible. Feel free to comment ;)

    S'all for now, folks :smoking:

  4. Updaaate! :metal:

I can't decide whether to switch to 12/12! I hear vegging till at least day 55 is best unless obvious height issues - but theres so many budsites on this baby I just wanna throw her into flower already :devious:

  5. Wow nice grow man. I need something like this to keep my baby short. Are you using LST?

-In order to be free, you must live outside the law-

  6. Yea dude, I'm LSTing the stem and all the side branches to the edge of the pot -
    This helps to:
    -spread out plant horizontally
    -maintain low even canopy
-provide maximum light to the center of your plant, hopefully to create more branches

It was weird though; last week I took off the LST for about 3 days, and the plant seemed to just climb right up. This had the effect of making me reconsider -- but i noticed the plant was getting taller sure but now I was not using up as much horizontal space as I could. so Im gonna stick with it, and thats why I suggest you try it to keep her as short as possible!

  7. Hi all

So I switched the plants to 12/12 on day 42 after lights out
Day 43 was dark, so day 44 since sprouting is day 1 of flower.

Today is day 3, and I notice a problem on the edges of a few leaves. I'm surprised - It'd been a week-week and a half since I fed her,
Any ideas? Unless someone suggests otherwise, I'm just going to keep going as planned, seeing as how the problem is isolated and most leaves have no burnt leaf-tip.

Note: I've been checking EC run-offs and (though its been a week,) theyre about as high as my nutrient solution, ~1100uS. Never checked the pH though.

    Assistance is appreciated! :p

    peace ~

  8. I don't think the problem of the previous post is nute burn. It has gotten mildly worse; a couple more leaves starting turning brown from the edge toward the centre. Also, there have been some yellowing of the smallest, lowest leaves.

(*I THINK*) This represents a deficiency, probably N since leaves arent as dark + ywllow leaves usually related to that (from what ive read)

soo I just fed her, and the run off reads 675 uS, or about 475 ppm ---- ITS STILL REALLY LOW AND THE PLANTS SOAKED ..... :S dont know what i should do lol

also many of the lower pistils took peach/brown in color. Since that isnt supposed to happen till around harvest time... im very concerned!!!!!!

  9. Wishing right now I had actual first-hand experience.

  10. There's a lot happening here in the first few weeks of flower -- its tough to keep in control of EVERYTHING; night temps are low (as low as 17C ~ 62F) and i keep forgetting to turn the heater on n shit. Nutes are hard to keep in the optimal zone, especially since mine is ground-up pellets dissolved in water: tough to get an idea how much E.C. content is really being added to the plant's system

Ended up adding more nutes at the end -- bumped it up to 840 uS, will now increase it in smaller increments

Photo update!!! Beginning of BUD FORMATION :hello:

  12. Oh and since I fed her a few days ago growth has really taken off! Grew nearly an inch in the last 24 hrs!

Seeing these buds.... gets me excited :smoking:

  13. The deficiencies were getting much worse - so bad that I suspected pH lockout. seeing magnesium and zinc and nitro deficiencies, minor but my suspicion is because its ROOT BOUND.

Will show pics of how hardcore the roots are when I transplant this weekend as well as the topside o' the plant

  14. Where is the rest of this diary ? its like someone stealing half your news paper. sucks, how did the grow go ?
