I'm giving up on Weed

Discussion in 'Pandora's Box' started by Doughnut, Sep 29, 2012.

  1. As per title really.

I've been smoking/vaping the stuff for 12 years now, when I was younger it helped me deal with shit as I was alone; things have since changed.

I have a lovely GF; good friends; a pocket full of ambitions and believe its time to stop smoking/vaping weed.

Weed isn't the big bad drug its made out to be, but IMO its no saviour either. It makes me lazy, unsocial-able and way too spaced out. Along with that I simply cannot control the munchies aspect and that alone cannot continue.I can't possibly see how weed now has a place in every day life for me.

I feel much better on days I don't get high, I am a lot more energetic and have a much better relationship with my GF when not smoking, I don't know how/when weed became to be so counter-productive for me.

I've built up some nice tools along the way, and will vape when I next have a day to completely piss away, I don't think one of those will come up soon though.

Peace out fellow stoners, I hope you find what you're looking for on your journey. Just remember young stoners there's a lot more to life than getting high.

    PEACE.

  2. nobody like a quitter

  3. I learned how to control the munchies after my 3rd time blazing, all it takes is self-control, just realize you're not hungry, you just aren't full.

  4. Thats admirable, find what works for you. Personally, its the dank.

  5. Everybody is different dude, you just have to do what is best for you. I'm glad you are able to give it up if its doing more harm than good.

  6. Hey man I feel ya, I'm currently trying to take a long t-break until I really get my money up, them I'm grabbin a big ass bag of dank to celebrate though! lol but forreal if you don't grow or sell the shit, it can really cost a lot of money in the long run. And the reason it makes you so counter-productive is because weed makes you okay with being bored. When you're sittin around sober, you get bored quick and have to do something. But when you're high just sittin on your ass, you can enjoy yourself like that for the rest of the day.

  7. Different strokes for different folks!

And just remember, young Doughnut, there is a LOT more to cannabis than "just" getting high! (To see what I mean, click that first link in my sig!)

  8. I enjoy getting high myself, but smoking weed increases my quality of life. I use it to help control my anxiety and depression, motivate me into getting work done, when I was working at a convenient store it allowed me to be able to handle the daily rude customers and malicious customers with ease, gives me patience in my life, opens up my mind to what I am fully capable of.

Really depends on how you wanna use it. And how it affects you. It's not for everyone I understand, but for those it works for, it can really improve your life if you know how to use it :D

  9. All the best to you, man. May you achieve what you desire and more.

  10. I feel you Doughnut, it does the exact same to me. I'm taking a break for a while until I get my priorities straight.

I just got off probation so I'm not trying to quit just yet. But definitely not making it an everyday thing.

  11. the weed hasn't given up on you

  12. you need to find your balance man! quit for a year and then you will be high after 1-2 hits, every now and then.

weed should be a spice in your life, like a spice for cooking. you don't load up every meal with it hah

  13. If your main priority is just Marijuana then of course it will take over your life.

  14. It's cool, weed is not for everybody as some people wish to think.

But I don't understand why some people feel the need to justify their quitting, and somehow blame it on weed. The herb is the same, people are different.

  15. while i admire your decision, did you ever think that because you got stoned every day, that's what ultimately lead to it being counter-productive for you? sticking to it once in a while can't hurt. i think that would actually be beneficial. it's what i do, anyway. this is coming from someone who used to toke every day, multiple times a day, and now does it once every two weeks or so. i can't possibly imagine weed not enhancing my life

  16. I guess some people just cant handle vegas... Glad I can.

  17. Good luck man. Bud has and is helping me a lot with some stuff I'm going through, so I do smoke pretty often, but I know that day will come where I don't need it anymore and I will only smoke on weekends or less. Cannabis IS a medicine and if used and not abused can be life changing. But I'm glad, if quitting improves your life, do it!

  18. G'luck brotha. I haven't smoked in over a year now and I don't plan on doing so anytime soon. Don't get me wrong I love ganja, it has drastically changed my life for the better but I am much more productive without it. I save the money I would have spent on weed and have taken up hobbies such as growing and trading stocks to fill the time I spent smoking. Anyway, wish you the best of luck.
