Christian Lounge

Discussion in 'Religion, Beliefs and Spirituality' started by AresKenux, Sep 14, 2012.

  1. I see that Christians need a safe place to discuss their beliefs. Here it is.

If by chance, an troll wanders in and interferes, then the integrity of the Atheist lounge is demeaned.

    So here we go,

Fellow Christians what is the greatest mystery of God, to you?

Hi there. I'm not a Christian, so I won't get too involved in here. Just want to post early to let combative people know that I have a thread where religious debates are meant to be held. It exists to promote respect in lounges like these. Pay no mind to the title, it was created in reaction to people mucking about in our Atheist lounge.

So if you've come to cause trouble, please respect these fine folks and call them out in the Thunderdome instead. Here's a link:

And now back to your regularly scheduled lounge...

The greatest mystery of God to me is the star and heavens.. The universe and galaxy. It's was created by the almighty alpha and omega! I do not question it, but would like to know more about his vast wonders.

Take the time to look out in the night sky, on a clear night when the milky way is clearly visible.. This kind of sight is bound to leave you in awe when you think about it.. Especially after a little attitude adjustment

  4. I've never felt very comfortable around other Christians because usually I don't really speak your language (jargon) and it can be overpowering for me. I hope my voice is welcome here. I've been a believer all my life, but I'm not exactly a contented follower at the moment. I'm very respectful of the beliefs of others, however, and am not here to challenge anyone.

The biggest mystery of God for me is how the level of oppression and suffering in the world will justify his grand plan.

  5. cmon, man. let these people have their space...

  6. I'm one of these people. And I've asked that I be allowed to have a voice as a Christian in this lounge even though I'm not contented. And I'm not here to tear down anyone else's belief.

  7. meh. if you say so.

I like this thread, about time there is a thread where someone doesn't have to argue about religion just because they think they're better than someone else. Atheists love to stir that pot up.

  9. Argument #1, started by you. ;)

  10. I believe that he allows this oppression and suffering, because of Azazel. Azazel was a high angel of God. And God loved him, favored him above all others. He was the most beautiful of all of his creation. From the outside, and in. And Azazel, broke His heart, when he became distracted from the truth, and started stirring up problems in Heaven, so far as throwing tantrums and accusing other angels, and God Himself.

Azazel, I believe, asked God to create this universe and its earth. And thus it all began. It was not through God's will that this was done, but rather to repair the damage that Satan/Azazel has caused. Thus all are tested. Thus all suffer. Thus we are oppressed.

  11. I never doubt that God has created such beauty and magnificence!

And to believe that all of it came from Him?!?!

Wow, shows how great God is!

  12. The greatest mystery of God is that his Word is not recognized - despite how many people profess to know him.

  13. I wonder what heaven I'm going to go to if he looks past my mistakes. Our immediate atmosphere, outerspace, or the home of GOD.

  14. What about an agnostic with a christian heritage who actively attends various denominational services, works with christian charities and observes christian holidays?

    Can I talk in here?

  15. Sure, why not? You are probably more christian then most christians! But please do share your knowledge if you will, because knowledge is such a great thing, that it's all I seem to want and give.

  16. I really appreciate that, sincerely.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and chime in when and where I can. I should also point out that I actively post in the atheist lounge. When it comes to socio-political policy implications I am certainly a secularist. I also make intense use of rational empiricism and the scientific methodology regularly in my career path.

That being said, I also recognize that religion (not just Christianity) has much to offer us. It has a strong historical context in my family's history and my personal one. It is a source of inspiration for some of my most favourite artistic works and, if utilized appropriately; can have some profoundly positive impacts for an individual and a community.

Of course, there are many pitfalls and abuses of these belief systems, and I cannot ignore those. I think that from a utilitarian perspective; critical thought needs to be applied to religious belief systems, more than it does any other aspect of human inquiry.

  17. Bump! Spreading the good vibes to all my fellow blades tonight.

  18. There are like 3 of these theist threads now, mods please delete these.

See man, why are you attacking our beliefs man? I just spread good vibes your way and you post this? If anyone was gonna attack someone, it is more likely gonna be an atheist on a Christian than a Christian on an atheist. God would help you my friend. But anyway, ya, I still send my good vibes to you because that's the Christian way. Peace :)

  20. Because Christians are the enemy and to treat the enemy with respect is madness. Can you seriously morally say that Christians have not attacked non Christians, do you hear yourself? The greatest bringers of misery and bloodshed are trying to spread good vibes, makes perfect sense to me........
