One of the greatest things about the industry glassblowing is the concept of "constructive collaborations" whereas it proves difficult to get "competitors" to get together in other industries when it comes to the unique realm of glass art artists seem to sometimes get more out of a collaboration than a piece created by just themselves on their own.

The concept of "Collabs" works so well simply due to the growing consumer interest in glass artists and manufacturers. Brought on partly by the Hipster movements emphasis on bespoke and handmade products and the rebellious street art movement smokers across the country are starting to see the time and effort put into these pieces. These newfound consumers or "collectors" are finding just how worth-while it is to own a piece by one of these sought-after artists. This collaboration mini-tube in question was done by two artists who in my opinion were the last two to get together. This accusation is made simply due to the fact these artists have such radical styles, seeing them come together in harmony inspired this article.

The first thing that strikes you when viewing the piece is the artistic approach to the tubes mouthpiece. The sharp black and red "spikes" by Tristan, perfectly exemplify his over-the-top style in which he uses these spikes and horns to create massive skeletal-like structures. The overall "chaos" style of the piece is quintessential to Chunk's style. By creating clean "thumbprint" millies as well as a host of others Chunk creates an interesting contrast to the crisp black, white, and red line-work that can be seen throughout the rest of the piece.

This piece is an excellent example of two artists with drastically different styles coming together to make someting awesome! Here are some of our favorite collaboration piece's we've featured on IgniteMe.co:

  5. Wow. Is there a place to buy things like this? I feel like clear glass looks so sterile now..

  6. Wow, amazing! Where can you get pieces like this??

  7. That's what I want to know. In a city as big as Jax I've been to pretty much all the stores and still no one carries a selection as legit as the stuff I see here. Granted, lots of stores may carry one or two, but I guess I'd have to go to NY or LA to find a large collection of just really high quality stuff.
