help needed with parts for Bong

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by priceisright, Sep 5, 2012.

  1. Hi Everyone,

I am new here and am a fairly new smoker. I was given this bong by a friend and i was told it needed parts. I took it to a couple smoke shops to see what I needed. I was told that the hole is too large and good luck finding a rubber grommet/gasket to fit the hole. it is about 3/4" - 1"

I also noticed the bong did not have a carb. is that normal? so i need help with a shopping list of what I need to make this functional or if its even worth buying parts for? is the gasket something i would be able to find at a hardware store fairly easily? thanks for helping out a rookie like myself

  2. Your best bet would probably be to buy a new one imo. Unless you want that for sentimental value, it would be a much better use of time and money to pickup something similar. Bongs like that usually run for under $50 at most glass places.

Usually you want to get a bong where the bowl slides out, they work much better than the ones with a carb and are still reasonably priced.

  3. There's not usually a carb on glass bongs if its designed for a pull out pipe. And grommet would definitely not cut it as how would you find or use a pipe that big? But that guy at the shop sounds like a douche anyway, he should have known these bongs don't really use a grommet.
It looks like you only need two things for this bong to be complete again:
    A glass pipe and,
Another glass attachment that goes into that hole and the pipe slides in, sort of like a glass grommet but I don't know the name for it.

But as PinkZebra mentioned, its probably cheaper and easier to just buy a complete bong as you wont have a clue about what sizes to get anyway.

Try looking on grasscity, check out some glass bongs, can buy parts on there as well and see if you think its worth it :)

  4. Try getting an extension joint like above poster stated. You could then purchase a rubber grommet, and slide it over the joint and push it into your bong. All you would need is a bowl and some bud, bam you're set lol.

  5. hard to tell with that pic but probably just a glass on glass downstem and slide, but doesnt your friend that gave it to you know what it needs?
