Help me understand Republicans

  1. Well, first of all I believe that marriage is a holy sacrament, and marrying two men or two women would be contradicting the holy bible.

  2. Fair enough, it doesn't matter to me, honestly! Haha

  3.
You realize they/we're going to do that anyway, married or not, right?

So, atheists shouldn't be able to marry either, right?  Anyway, you keep moving the goalposts.  It sounds like you're trying to just not say, "because it makes me feel icky."

  4. Democrats
    - worship at the alter of the Supremacy of the State. When we get a peek behind the pretty promises and ear tickling bullshit, most of their political activities are really about increasing the State's authority - and nearly always at the expense of liberty.

    Republicans
    - SAY they believe in the supremacy of "The Individual"; and they call the Cult of the State ideology "evil". But then they turn around and run up the debt in their own pet areas, enact intrusive shit like The Patriot Act, and establish a whole new federal spy bureaucracy (Dept of Homeland Security) to keep tabs on everyone via other mega-federal spy agencies (NSA, FBI, CIA, etc).
\nFuck!!!! They're just Statists in a different disguise.

I don't know how anyone can side with the lovers of all things governmental anymore. They're so fucking mesmerized by their own bullshit that they think ISIS fighters are just poor, underprivileged kids in need of a federal program! Fucking insane! It's right wing Christians they're worried about!  [IMG]

I can probably see some merit in anyone's philosophy that has, somewhere in its foundation, some kind of effective check against the strangely masochistic propensity of humans to heap more and more institutional authority on their shoulders, even in full knowledge of the eventual horrors that such unlimited authority has historically brought to the people that craved it. I'll vote for anyone that hasn't swallowed the koolaid of power hungry Progressivism/Statism and isn't a power hungry Republican phony.

  5.
Well, first of all i do believe that our country does not make laws or deny rights based on a religious text. It's kinda in the rules.

Marriage is no longer a ceremony that for some reason christians think they own even though the rest of the world has marriage rituals too, it's a legal and rights issue. There are many legal protections that come with marriage. Plus they shouldn't be denying anyone the right to do something that is a legal matter. They're called rights for a reason. Thinking like this is the reason black and white folk couldn't marry a few decades ago and marital rape was cool until the 80's. You can't take away things you are allowed from people just because you don't agree with them.

  6. That sounds like a very good reason for you not to engage in a same sex marriage.  Would you impose your religion's rules on the rest of us and should other religions impose their rules on you?  Or do you believe your religion should be mandatory for all citizens.

  7. I grew up a Republican (on my own thinking) and I always thought like this. The site of two men getting intimate to this very day makes me feel icky. But the reason I gravitated towards the Republican party was because of personal responsibilities and freedom to choose for ones self. As I got older I found way to many inconsistencies in the republicans and my own thinking. I was at odds within myself. I knew that if I truely believe in personal choice I had to except gays in society. I still get the icky icks when I see two men kissing but I respect there choices and rights. The last time I voted for a Republican was George hw bush round one. If you remember he ran on a platform that was against bill Clinton's nation building, remember republicans used to be the party of no interference. Growing up I was always told dems stood for the people but I always seen it as they only stood up for some people. Early in my life this was a distinct difference in the parties. The right favored a smaller government that freed personal choices. The left favored a stronger government that aimed its help at a certain sector of society (poor, and this pits groups against each other). I seen them the left as divisive, and the right more inclusive. Now today we still have the welfare state I inherently apposed as a child until the day I die id imagine. But we also have a warfare state ran by the right. One that is at complete odds with the rights original doctrine. Both parties are shit! Ones evil and ones stupid. Then came libertarianism, I heard people like ron paul, thomas woods, lew rockwell, judge nap. I was hooked. This led me to Rothbard and Mises, and eventually to recognize it wasn't republicans and democrats I was at odds with, it was the state in every and all forms. This is why I am a proud anarchist capitalist, ano-cap. But I like to call it anarchy and free markets (not capitalism) and its based on the non aggressive principle (NAP). Its a very consistent philosophy, one that makes perfect sense to me. One that allows all people to follow their own philosophies as long as NAP is practiced.
There is a reason the right attracts protectionist, just like there is a reason the left attracts socialist.

  8. As an aside, George HW Bush's "round one" was actually against Dukakis.  Clinton ran against him for his "round two" and won.  You may be thinking George W Bush (Bush the Second, if you will.)

  9. Everyone who opposes neo-conservatives, theocrats or plutocrats need to stand together.

A magical alliance between libertarians, rastas, stoners, anarchist, futurist, etc.

    Like Lord of the Rings.

  10. Oops, I forgot Libertarians have no problem with plutocrats.

  11. Yes, thank you

    Your opinion is unconstitutional

We have seperation of church and state.

Therefore your God has no say in legal marriage

  15. Well I'm pretty positive that shrimp is also looked down upon in the bible. Do you think people shouldn't be allowed to eat shrimp? I obviously know you don't believe that shrimp should be banned, but I'm merely trying to point out that the bible may be a little outdated, and not the end all be all dictator of morality.

  16. The bible also says that Jesus said if you divorce and remarry then you have committed adultry...

Christians do that all the time and it directly breaks the 10 commandments, but they don't want gays to marry

  17. Well, I believe that the bible is the word of God. And simply put, the word of God will never be outdated.

  18. So we should still stone children to death of cursing their parents?

  19.
I hope and pray that most Republicans disagree with this.
