Help me understand Republicans

No, you've got it switched. The percentage of Democrats who are highly educated is higher than the percentage of Republicans who are.

Yeah, man, we really don't want a populace who has learned to think critically about the world.  That's not real education.

See, this is the problem with devaluing the kind of education you're talking about as not REAL education.  That article was written for a lay person, not a statistician or political scientist.  And it's not that long.

But in an effort to check myself on my classism, I will attempt to summarize it for you later tonight or tomorrow (I'm pretty tired right now.)

Also, I'm a socialist AND a patriot, tyvm.

Interestingly enough, no, there is not always a correlation. The "poor" areas in red states are more often than not rural areas that are inhabited by country folk who don't make much money, but because the cost of living is so low in these parts, there is minimal crime. Only crimes we really have around here is public intoxication, underage tobacco use, hunting out of season, and the occasional meth tweaker going crazy and stabbing their significant other a few dozen times.

I believe the reason blue areas have worse crime problems is because big city dwellers are mostly Dems. And I guess it only makes sense that big cities have the worse crime problems.

This is retarded. Being a democrat does not make you more susceptible to crime. If you truly believe that then you are a moron. If I'm misreading this then I apologize. The reason there is more crime in cities is because there is more poverty and a shit ton more people, plus the cost of living is much higher in these areas as you said yourself. Being ignorant and poor leads to crime, not being associated with a political party. It may be true that there are a lot of ignorant democratic thieves out there. But I'm sure there's plenty of ignorant republican thieves out there. This black and white thinking about political affiliations only creates further division and distracts from the real issues.

I believe you must have misread, I wrote that very early in the morning, so must not have articulated well, I'll exlpain - I said that areas run by a blue government tend to have higher crime, I related this to the fact that most inhabitants and politicians of big cities are democratic, and clearly big cities have higher crime rates. I'll look past those strong words, misunderstandings happen, we've all been there : )

  5. no one thinks being a Democrat increases your chance of being a criminal or victim.

The point is liberal governing practices lead to overall more poverty and thus more crime

  6. Liberal policies do not cause more crime.

Most people are in prison/jail for drug offenses.

  7. I think there is a case to be made that liberal policies DO end up resulting in more crime.

Social welfare steals from the middle class, dragging more of the middle class into poverty. Its not just liberal policies but many indirect taxes such as gas tax, license plate, sticker, drivers license, insurance (auto and health), property tax etc. But anyone who looks at the social welfare taxes taken out of their check its quite telling. And there is a correlation between income and crime (well for the wealthy crimes are legal so its hard to compare). Just a thought.

Those taxes aren't going to welfare and other programs for the non-working poor, by in large.  You're right that they're coming from the working and middle classes, way more than they're coming from the rich, but you're wrong about where that money really goes.

  9. My parents are super conservative and I don't understand 'em...

On that note, FUCK hardcore Republicans and FUCK hardcore Democrats.

Libertarianism is where the sensible people are at.

  10. My parents are Republicans. They didn't like Romney though. No one did.
I'm more Libertarian than anything. Fuck off and let me chill.

  11. I didnt claim it goes to nonworking? The concept of welfare is for those 'with' to provide for those 'with less'. But those at the bottom of 'with' become 'with less' as more of their money is stolen, i mean taxed.

  13. Well, as a conservative republican ill summarize my personality in a few bullet points.

    - Strong love for God and my country ( America )
    - I support the second amendment.
    - I don't support the idea that gays should be able to marry.
    - I don't support the murder of unborn children.
    - I support the idea that we should be self supporting.
    - Less government = better for life.

    That's pretty much it! Haha

  14. You say you are for less government yet you think the government should be able to tell gay people not to marry. Seems a little counterintuitive to me, but to each their own. I'm just curious, what are your reasons for being against gay marriage. I don't want to derail this thread I'm just curious.

  15. Fair enough. Well, first off the last thing I'm trying to do here is offend anybody, but I would find it completely disgusting to be out in public and see two guys holding hands of something, idk I just don't support t at all.

Heterosexual marriage is handled by your state. There is no "Federal Marriage" license. Gay marriage should be as well. Its funny nearly anyone you talk to except the most die hard government lover wants the government out of there business unless it pertains to them. Not speaking of you.

The very last thing we need is a Federal Apparatus for marriage. Imagine it..forms to fill out, taxes to pay, form fees etc etc.

  17. Unless you have a source, I'm going to take your opinion with a crater of salt.
Good for you. I'm sure they're just as offended by your heterosexual marriage.

That has absolutely nothing to do with marriage...

Holding hands...wtf...just because they can't get married doesn't mean there won't be gay people being involved with eachother...

Sounds like you don't like gay people, which isn't a marriage issue, but a bigotry issue...
