The DUI Club

1. about 7 years ago, hit a deer. In buffalo ny. Cops came gave me a field sobriety test, and breathalyzer. Blew .08...but i was 6 months away from my 21st. So yea got a dui which was dropped to a dwai which is just a traffic violation :) ny is very lenient with first time offenders, well they were at least. Paid about 1500 in fines, and 2000 to my lawyer. So in the end wasn't too bad. Still don't do it. It's funny cause that night i was sober, imo, but i used to drive so fucked up before that. I'm just thankful i didn't kill anyone. Well, the deer doesn't count. He was the one running onto the road.

I asked the cop if i could keep it, he said no :(

2. The federal guidlines is that 50 ng/ ml is the cutoff. 15 ng/ml would be cause for retesting.

3. My buddy got 2 in like a 6 month span.....

First one, he smoked one the way up to school. Gets pulled over like 2-3 hours later, cop smells weed. He GIVES him the pipe, he had no bud, but got blood tested so they gave him the DUI.

Second time we were leaving a party. We drop him off at his car. He's driving home, sees cops following him from distance. So he books it down this back ass road, flying. Totals his car. He gets the breathalyzer, it was .05 or .06.........which is just over the legal limit if your in an accident. So he got fucked evading a DUI, when he wouldn't have had the DUI in the first place.

4. Wow guys.really dui club? You should call it the no license club.

5. dude jail is pretty strict for your first time. I could see jail if you mow someone down or crash into something. For me I just got pulled over cause I was driving too fast through a parking lot, and pulling out on the main road I let off the cluth too early and tires squealed. LOL cop thought I was burning out, charged me with racing on highways, but that got dropped.

I'm in PA and got ARD which is basically an easy path for first time offenders. I lost mine for 2 months(would have been a year without ARD) and I will get it back in middle of OCtober!!!! I don't get how people don't learn their lesson after the first. I got mine during the two months I was out of work, and I got raped financially. Total I've paid is 3800, which is decent considering some people pay like 5-6 G.

6. i am not a member of this club and dont think i ever will be... but i said that about the stoner club when i was a kid and you see how that changed.
I am surprised my grandma isnt part of this club she has been drinking and driving for over 30 years and hasnt once got pulled over WTF that some insane ass luck or something.

7. I thought I was going to be a member while driving home drunk last night. I had taken a cab from one bar to another. When it was time to go, I called for a cab around 1:15am and after waiting for 45 minutes, I hitched a ride with a couple of people back to the other bar. Like most things I do when drunk, I made a bad decision and drove home. I almost shit my pants when a cop followed me for about 4 minutes and he was on my ass like glue. I think that's the best drunk driving I've ever done. When I signaled to go left, he went right. I swear I'm never doing this again!

8. You already did it once...its too late..

How the times have changed...

40 Years ago if you were drinking and driving you got a escorted home by the boy..

If you were a serious alcoholic like my grandfather used to be ya wracked up severalDUI convictions but life went on. He still kept his job, didn't serve a prison term, went on to successfully retire from a career for the GOVERNMENT!

If yer connected like Dick Cheney or George W. Bush, the world will look past your priors.

If yer part the rest the world like me,and get a dui in todays world..

Law enforcement has become big business certainly comparably corrupt as wall street if ya ask me..

And the 50% of america with the "ooo, that could have been my family" stance voting for stiffer sentences ects, advocating against drunk driving...I sympathize for anyone that has ever needlessly lost a family member in an auto accident. My first experience with a close family death was auto related.. but get real.. it wasn't your family in my case. In fact, no one was victim...look at this dui deaths? How often could ya chalk up other factors such as simply speeding, dumb ass drivers, no seat belts.

I'm not saying i condone "drunk" driving but I certainly don't condone that decision being left to the interpretation of some punk ass police officer that needs to lie on a police report to solicit a conviction because the "respondent" didn't smell like alcohol, had no slurred speech, yet was driving with headlights off after just pulling out onto a very illuminated road... so ofcourse, he's been drinkin, lets just write he was driving his honda civic that would not clear a sidewalk anyway, all over the sidewalk, swerving lanes, and driving overall erratically.

The .07 bac dui is the biggest crock of shit ever.

10. If people are not familiar with wet and reckless you should do some research. 0.04 is the real legal limit.

11. Depends on state law. Some are .08, Arizona is actually zero tolerance, which means 1 beer, you're over the limit. Of course, you're really unlikely to be breathalyzed for one beer.
That's a misdemeanor DWI though, not felony DUI for .08

12. word. I'm in cali. 0.8 is not a felony here, I believe most states it has to be an aggravated dui for it to be a felony. if you admit you have been drinking at all here you will be breathalyzed. The police in Marin counties public policy is 'every stop is a dui stop'. This means no matter who or when they are stopped they ask if you have been drinking and look for signs of drinking.

In cali the wet and wreckless and a dui are pretty much the exact same thing. Same fine, same classes, same amount time without a dl, same probation, same botch on your record. I had a dui with a 0.8 three years ago, almost half of the people in my dui class were under a 0.8 amd.were still there. One lady even had spent three years fighting a 0.0 amd had lost, lol.

It's all a cash cow. They dont care about keeping streets safe, just making money. They even just do the trailer booking and never take the people to jail anymore, just huge amounts of fines. Such a racket.

13. Hmmm i really think it depends on your county and shit too because I wrecked my car when i was twenty and got a w&r which is actually a little different fine wise. (dui would have cost me like 5 gs my w&r cost me 1800) and way more dui class.....But I definatly agree that it is a racket, they send you paperwork saying that you will be fined for a DUI (several charges if under 21) so that your paranoid as shit when you go to court and they offer a "deal" in which they make you feel like your lucky, but dont be fooled like the dude said above YOUR FUCKED!!

14. Just got out of jail yesterday morning.Had to do 30 days for my second DUI.

15. I live here in BC and they recently(around a year year and a half ago) changed the laws. Technically the DUI limit is still .08, but anything over .05 and your license can be taken for a year, and your forced to have a breathalyzer installed in your car in order to start your engine, at cost to you of around 5000$ once you include all fines and penalties also involved.

It's also technically zero tolerance, as if a cop catches you with anything, even .01, he can suspend your license for 24 hours. And if you get suspended 3 times, you incur the same penalties I mentioned above.

And the worst part is, you cannot force it into court. They literally won't hear your case on it. It's treated like a traffic violation, only you can actually go to court over a speeding ticket, but not this.

I'm not a big drinker and I haven't been subject to this yet, but I still think it's unconstitutional as hell.

16.
i got a dui because my fucking taillight was out...

and for all you who look down on us for having a dui... if you've smoked in the past 2-3 weeks and driven, you're guilty of a DUI.
Maybe we just aren't dumb enough to get caught. no smoking in the whip

17.
i know i'm on the losing end of this argument but i'm not gonna change my stance no matter how many stories of people getting killed by drunk drivers i hear. yeah, drunk driving is dangerous, so is eating and driving. texting and driving, talking on the phone and driving, operating your stereo and driving, driving while sleepy. putting on makeup and driving, hell, being a woman and driving. i know my limits, if i'm too drunk to drive i don't. simple as that.
Male chauvinist pig alert. Oink oink

18. when this thread was started i had zero now I have two on my record unfortunately. Don't drink and drive kids its stupid and not worth it, Im lucky to even be here typing this to u guys.

19. If your coming from the states and you have any DUI's they wont let you into Canada, i say good, people that have multiple DUIs are dumb as fuck, take offense i dont give a shit, ive had multiple people in my life get killed by drunk drivers.

20. Also in my city there is a zero tolerance policy because people wont obey the shit, the laws here are after your first DUI you get a breathalizer machine installed into your vehicle for 1 year plus fines and 24 hours suspension, second offense youll go to jail for probably 3 months, depending on if you got a good lawyer.

I still dont think these are strict enough either.
