Crazy Mushrooms

Discussion in 'The Great Outdoors' started by junkheadrev, Aug 2, 2012.

  1. I found these the other day, well my dog did.
I think they are Ganoderma lucidum or Reishi mushrooms.
They have medicinal properties and the Chinese have been using them for thousands of years.
They have anti diabetes and cancer properties and can also lower your Blood pressure.
I didn't harvest them because they were in such good condition, it would seem wrong to cut these beauties.

Just thought I would share this awesome find.:D

Apparently they taste like shit as well.
But it would be the healthiest piece of shit you ever ate.

  4. Haha shrooms are a trip

  5. I saw those mushrooms when I was at Hawley Lake a couple of days. I never knew they had medicinal properties, that's pretty cool to know! I found some a cool mario bros looking mushroom that was apparently poisonous/psychoactive. And a cool tree that had mushroom growing on it. [IMG]

    Nice find!
I'm pretty sure that's an Amanita Muscaria.
There isn't many of those in my area, and I've never seen one personally.
I think they grow a lot in the northern states like Washington and Oregon .
Those are the symbol of Mycology.
I can't tell you what the other ones are from the pic.

  18. The Amanita Muscaria grows abundantly in the colorado mountains (in the wet areas)....found a ton on the last hike I did..............funny fact, they inspired santa claus and "flying reindeer" hahaha

  19. AHEM - if you wish to keep discussing this kind of thing (and I'm all for it mind you, I love grilling Portobellos and other fungi for dinner) then you HAVE TO remember that we don't discuss the psychedelic kinds and that to do so will get you an infraction.

  20. I'm gonna get some days off work to go mushroom hunting...
