Hi I'm new to this site and in need of some real help of your guys if possible!

I myself do smoke marijuana as i think most people here do. I don't use it for any medical conditions I just use it to feel relaxed but from much reading I do relies it has many many medical qualities.

This is where my questions start please bare with me any help would greatly be appreciated.

I am very close to my grandmother and always have been since a small age, she is now 84yrs and i am 22. It pains me a lot when I go to visit her and she tells me about her aches and ailments. She has always been very active when i was a child always in the garden or baking etc the usual 'nan stuff', so to walk in and see her laying on the sete saying she hasn't moved all day due to having no energy is a shock to me never mind how much it must get her down. She must take 10pills a day each curing the other ones side effects.

I will try to list some of the problems she has:

-Not sleeping
-Nausea from all the tablets
-arthritis (she has had her hip and one knee replaced)
-achey joints, finger, shoulders etc (again due to the arthritis i think)
-A very rare condition I can't think of the name of, i will find out tomorrow. the condition is a strange one basically all food to her tastes salty, This puts her off food and now she drinks a high calorie drink proscribed by the doctor as she is only 6stone

Really what I need to know is.

Will medical marijuana help:
1) Arthritis
2) Be more active ( if this mean helping her to sleep )
3) The rare condition I can't think of the name of (even if it just bringing back her appetite.
4) any other ailments related to 'old age'

What sort of strain is good to use ( my friend has a crop of blue cheese, pineapple chunk, critical mass and a ultra lemon haze would any of these be of use?) he has kindly offered to grow me a strain for her any suggestions?

-Should she smoke/vap/eat? I should point out she does have a sensitive mouth/throat so maybe the smoking wouldn't be a good idea?? I don't know.

-Dosage??

-How can i break this to my mum? (if i do get some good answers which I'm sure I will I will probs just show my mum the entire thread) With that in mind can somebody please just explain to her how you can't overdose etc??

I care for my nan a lot and feel if i didn't post this now then I never would and perhaps I can improve her life, maybe not but I have to try.

Please excuse the spelling mistakes.

Well, if she has a sensitive throat and what not, I would try vapeing, and if that's not good for her, the edibles are the way to go.

For her not being able to sleep, I would definetly say give her and indica strain, but at night. That will help with her sleep problems, pain, and maybe even help her appetite.

Now for the day, I would say maybe a hybrid of satvia and indica, indica for the pain, but im not sure about that, but a good satvia that is good for pain. But to get her active again, a satvia strain is definety the way to go.

To bring it up to her, I'd tell her the facts of what it could do, give her examples of people her age, and back up the facts that it helps her problems with documents from respected sites saying how it may help her. If she doesn't like it the very first time, have her try 1 more time and I'm sure medical marijuana will help her. Good luck to you and your grandma, if I helped I'm glad I did :)

I apologies for your Grandmothers condition as my Grandpa is in the same and I understand how it must feel to not be able to do much but listen to their agony all day, as I do since he lives with me.

As far as medical qualities go here is a site that's worth looking at.

Strain Guide | Medical Marijuana Strains

I hope that helps. and best of luck to you!

Hi,

I know what its like to watch your grandma suffer from pain and all that you say. Im not an expert on mj strains, but I suggest that should use a vaporizer. Smoking might be too harsh for her and edibles might be TOO STRONG.

You can show this to your mom, I really hope it helps:

You could also use cannabis in tincture or hemp oil form as well.

For the arthritis, I've read that the balm/cream made out of cannabis roots do real good. Topical use only though. You shouldn't ingest cannabis roots.

Tell both your granny & mom about how so many people successfully using cannabis to treat various conditions, show them some articles and etc. The might need to understand first that cannabis isn't a drug or an evil weed!

Good luck.:)
