What if future humans are faced with some kind of species ending apocalypse and their only means of survival is time travel. Lets say that they discovered that time travel is possible through wormholes in space time and they went back in time to slightly alter the way man acts and thinks to prevent them from destroying the planet. If this were possible then the "aliens "we see are really us hundreds of years in the future. I feel like this is extremely plausible. My friend and I were talking about this over a few bowls of dream queen and it blew my mind haha. Think about it.

I suppose anything is possible until proven otherwise.
That being said, I'll stick with Carl Sagan on explaining aliens. It's just people having hallucinations/vivid dreams followed by loads of confirmation bias.

I don't know because if they travel back in time to change how events will unfold so that they don't have to travel back in time, they wouldn't ever exist in the first place to travel back in time soooo... ???

What if the human race's future apocalypse is caused solely by their fear of it?
What if this fear comes from the human race's obsession with safety?
What if the human race is only obsessed with safety because they're told that they are constantly in danger?
What is telling us to be scared all the time?
Does it matter?

All population spikes eventually peak and then can decline as fast as they rose. This will eventually happen to the Homo Sapiens population, and we will either recover from the decrease in population or go extinct. If we go extinct thats the end, if we recover then the cycle repeats. So eventually we will be go extinct in one way or another, with nothing we can do to prevent it
