I know the price difference is LARGE, except would a 600w or 1000w LED vs competitor really give of WAY LESS HEAT? So if the Po are doing their helicopter fly overs what sort of difference would it make? Would it make the difference of LED showing that it could just be a stove or a large plasma TV vs diff light showing that its obvs a grow??

info + link would be AWESOME!

Thanks
Matt

Been looking into this myself and i hear loads of conflicting info. Someone on here said that while the LED's themselves give off no heat, the electrical component box does and it's rather significant. I can't confirm or deny that, someone experienced will need to clear that up.. just trying to provide a framework for your research/ other answers.

I do remember seeing a few threads that shows that after x watts HID's output less heat than CFLs per watt.. Goodluck friend.

you bumped your thread after 45 minutes? what was it... two or three down from the top? so annoying. especially when your question has been answered a thousand times around here.

flir cannot see your tv. your lights. your anything. it cannot see thorugh walls/roofs. what they can see is the air you are pushing out of your house. if you arent doing that.. you have nothing to worry about. it is also unlawful in the states to use flir on a helicotptor. the most they could do is do their damndest to build a case against you because they saw the heat escaping.

BC from what i hear gets hammered by fly-overs, but ya its only the exhaust they can see..

that being said, its clear you have a shaky grasp on lighting. I'm not usually short with people in the forum world, but did you even try searching for "led vs xxxx"???

they give off heat but there is no 500 degree bulb anywhere so its a little easier to deal with in most cases. I wouldnt use led unless you are gonna just buy something tried and true like the UFO stuff thats mad pricey. The other option would be to read a page or two on LED so you have a firm grasp on what you need and can see through the bull shit devices out there. Understand what diodes actually draw what power and put out what lumens in what nanometer ranges... then apply that knowledge to your purchase.

something, however, tells me you either wont do this, or it would be beyond the scope of your ability to understatd; so don't use LEDs, 'cus you will do it wrong if you are just throwing a dart at the board.

God how do you have so many posts and not know this question would annoy people?

Also, WTF is "normal lighting"???

four pages down? thats funny because the first page still holds threads where the last post was made on the same day this was made. no reason to lie. no reason to be a douche. just show some respect for those of us that roam around here answering questions for people like you.

i put you in your place and then answered your question. then you made yourself look like a fool.... again.

Alright Alright kiddies. Relax.

Yes, LEDs give off a fraction of the heat. I can put my hand right up to the glass on my 600W LED. It's the ballasts inside the unit that give off the heat. With that said, you won't get the canopy penetration you would get with a HPS. I love my LEDs and am going to still be Vegging with them as well as having a Blackstar on each side of my 1000w HPS that I'll be putting up in the next few days.
