Eat a brownie before, you'll pass right out. Other than that, if you're scared of heights, don't take the window seat. Bring a book, some music, your laptop/kindle/tablet/whateverthefuckyouhave. I'm not sure if they (can) offer wireless on a plane.. so have some games playable or some work to do on your laptop.

I fly frequently, and what I can say is that it's very common to be afraid. The biggest confidence-booster I've ever had is when I was younger. I got to go up to the cockpit and meet the pilot in the middle of the flight because I was scared (this was pre-9/11, they let you do that stuff back then). The pilot showed me the controls and said "Even if the engine fails AND the power fails AND everything goes out, the plane can still easily fly, glide, steer and land safely."

Also watch this. It's not a confidence-booster, but I think it might make you laugh if you remember it while you're on the plane. That would help a lot.

word i was scared my first time to. it helps to think that if anything does happen the plane is designed to fly and that at the worst you will glide back down to saftey.

Also, it is a ton safer to fly in an airplane than to ride in a car

Why are people scared of flying? Thousands of planes jet around the Earth each year. Barely any of them crash. You should be more scared of driving in a car than flying in an airplane.

I'm not going to describe them, but just watch out for a certain kind of people. You know which ones I'm talking about.

just take your seat, get out a book or something, and sit back and read. it's really very simple and easy.

I love flying. You're more likely to die driving to the airport than on the plane. Sit back and enjoy seeing the world from 30,000 feet up.

That's if you're lucky, anyway. If you're unlucky, they'll put you next to a fat person or a child. Then you'll pray for the plane to crash, just so you can take them with you.

I am scared about getting bad service, and nothing is enjoyable about waiting for hours and hours in a cabin.
