The veg light i am currently using is a 250W HPS. The bulb is old and needs replacing but its not mine so i don't want to spend money on it. I can get 2 115W cfl's 5500k for $60. How would these compare? Alternatively i could really hassle the shit out of my friend to replace it, as he's half of this operation and doesn't do jack shit. Eventually i want to move and do it elsewhere anyway so would these two lights be anywhere near as good as the 250W HPS?

keep the cfl bulbs closer than seems reasonable, and i would recommend getting 6500k bulbs as usually they waste less wattage on the unusable green parts of the spectrum. But ya two of those bulbs hanging over one or 2 plants like less than an inch from the tops the whole way through growth will spank the shit outta a 250 hps for veg.
