I just had to pull up all of my best looking plants - very sad. it's funny because in past years i've had quite good luck with females. but this year i started a bunch of clones, and then planted a bunch of seeds and most of my seed plants ended up male. it's almost like they knew all the females were about and evened the score?

why so many males? i think i'm done growing from seed - pulling over half your crop sure does suck. also sucks to get paranoid that you were just being paranoid and pulled up a bunch of females....

That's why I plant 10 or 15 seeds indoors and sex them out and turn my best looking females into mummas...all female clones by the time they go outside

That's the way it goes sometimes. Some years you have great success, and other years it's a head-scratcher. Pulling out healthy males is always tough, but it's no different than it is to a vegetable gardener who thins out his/her seedlings to make room for the growing crop. And now you can focus on your female plants, keeping them looking good, and anticipating a bountiful harvest.

luck of the draw my friend. I planted 7 seeds this year - two died off, one is in the ground somewhere unsexed, I have three in containers and only one is showing female-sex right now. Lets hope the other three are FEM!

We have tons of wildlife here, all I do is cut holes in the side of a bottle, throw some cotton balls in it and pee in it, hang it with wire ties to a tree branch, then once a month spray liquid fence on the wildlife around my crop....only when I add bone or blood meal to my mix is when I have ever had a problem with animals

if your having problems with deer or herbivores of any kind, take any hair from yourself, or your dog (just brush your dog and it should give you enough hair) then take and sprinkle it around your garden. I have also found that a bar of irish spring soap( or any other deodorizing soap), in a container with a little bit of water in it keeps the animals away pretty well. I poured some liquid fertilizer around my plants, and the next day i went out there and 3 of my plants were ripped out of the ground,(deer tracks were everywhere in my garden) but none were eaten, i replanted all of them, did all of the above suggested methods, and have had no problems since.

I would take 50% male rate every year and be happy.

Not to be a jerk. But your hair and even your dogs hair can get you busted or link you to a grow. If your using this method I would use hair and dog hair from a friends vacume cleaner. Plenty of hair, dog and human.

If you have small outdoor garden I recomend mouse traps. Works with most anything but some hogs do not give a dam. I can find my link if anyone cares. Your using the traps to scare animals not hurt them.

im sorry, but if your only growing a few plants they are not going to DNA test if they find a couple plants. if you have a garden of 40 + then yea maybe....

You may be right. But I am not leaving my hair at my two plants. I will leave your hair but not mine. All in all it does link you to the plants. Anything can happen. When Jail, freedom, years probation and gun rights are at risk I try to cover everything.

What happens when you find a ripper ripping your plants. You end of beating him near death. He calls the cops and they come looking to bust you for assult. There they find your plants and hair. Perhaps would never happen but you never know. For an assult 1 charge over drugs they would DNA the hair and look for fingerprints at site making a case on you.
